Filter by:Although face-to-face education is widely used as a traditional method, emerging computer technology has allowed new training approaches such as video-based training (VBT) platforms to flourish, especially in the last four decades. Educators adopted VBT as a cost-effective and accessible medium to address some of their training needs. It contains purposely designed visual cues and draws learners' attention during the learning process, and the dynamic details enable learners to better understand the learning contents. The use of new technologies such as e-learning, computer-assisted learning, VBT, and web-based applications for clinical skill education has increased learner satisfaction compared with conventional education methods. Preoperative patient preparation is a crucial element of preoperative nursing care. A surgical nurse is a specialized coordinator of patient care, and the main purposes of this role are to meet the patient's and the family's needs individually and to prepare them for the scheduled procedure and postoperative recovery. Preoperative patient preparation contains multiple components and steps such as preoperative education, including physical, social, psychological, and legal preparation, and preparation for the night and day of surgery. the nature of the process has many components and steps, it is not easy for students to learn this subject, and nursing educators were able to experience this in a clinical practice environment. And the educators started to search for new teaching techniques to teach this subject like the other colleagues. the investigator's aim in this project is to determine the effect of VBT on the knowledge levels of nursing students on preoperative patient preparation when compared to traditional training methods.

Malnutrition is considered as a deficiency of energy, protein or other nutrients. Malnutrition is a big problem for surgical patients. Various physiological problems may occur in patients with inadequate or malnutrition, such as prolonged wound healing time, decreased muscle strength and deterioration in immune system functions. It is recommended to start oral nutrition in the early postoperative period. In cases where the oral route is not preferred, enteral and parenteral nutritional support should be provided to the patient continuously or intermittently. Failure to identify individuals at risk of malnutrition means delaying the nutritional support the patient needs. Close observations and evaluations made by nurses during the day can ensure early diagnosis of the patient at risk of malnutrition and receive the necessary nutritional support. In order for nurses to fulfill their duties regarding nutritional care, they must have sufficient knowledge and skills on the subject and perceive the importance of nutritional care for patients. "Care" forms the basis of nursing. The interaction between patient and nurse affects the process and quality of care. Care behaviors include some basic skills such as listening carefully to the patient by making eye contact, empathy, demonsrating professional knowledge and skills, taking responsibility for the patient, and being accessible. In order to increase the quality of nursing care given to patients, it is necessary to provide evidence-based care and ensure that the care given is compatible with the values and expectations of the patients. For these reasons, this study aimed to examine the effect of enteral and parenteral nutrition (EPN) training on the knowledge level and care behaviors of surgical nurses regarding nutritional care.
This study aimed to examine the effect of the cough trick method and pinwheel blowing on the severity of pain during blood collection in school-age children.The study will be conducted with children aged 6-12 years who are subjected to blood tests by a pediatrician."Descriptive Questionnaire", "Visual Analogue Scale (VAS)", "FLACC Pain Rating Scale" and "Wong-Baker Faces Pain Rating Scale (WBFPRS)" will be used to collect data.The data will be uploaded to the computer and coded by the researchers, and the data will be evaluated in the SPSS package program.The sociodemographic data of the children participating in the study will be given as numbers and percentage distributions. Appropriate tests will be used by analyzing the data for normal distribution. The statistical significance level of the study was determined as p< 0.05. In addition, at the end of the research, the status of working with sufficient sample size will be tested with post-hoc power analysis.
Nursing education is composed of both theoretical and practical training that complement each other. The clinical practice environment for students is quite complex and practical applications are highly variable. Practical application areas do not offer effective and equal opportunities to meet the learning and application goals. There are also problems in theoretical education, and current teaching techniques cannot adequately support students' learning. In nursing education, it is recommended to use different teaching methods that strengthen students' skills. One of these methods is virtual reality simulation, which simulates real-life procedures. The investigators's aim in this project is to reveal the effect of the use of immersive virtual reality on the effectiveness of education in surgical nursing education through nursing care offered for a specific surgical procedure. With the laboratory setup, software tool(s), and the self-sufficient employees being able to use the software, via the capabilities gained through this project, it will be possible to carry out various types of virtual reality training activities by different departments of investigator's university without the need for out-sourcing. The investigators's advanced goal in this project is to transfer the nursing care specific to frequently applied surgical interventions to the immersive virtual reality environment.
Family-Centered Care (FCC) is a care approach based on mutual respect, knowledge sharing, and collaboration among children, families, and healthcare professionals during the planning, implementation, and evaluation of healthcare. Nurses' supportive attitudes may positively influence their care practices and behaviors towards FCC. In this regard, educational training related to FCC may affect nurses' attitudes and behaviors. In the literature, it's evident that there is a need for studies examining how both the attitudes of nurses towards FCC a key determinant of their behavioral predispositions, and the parental satisfaction with healthcare services change in response to the provision of educational training. This study aims to determine the impact of the FCC educational training administered to nurses in pediatric clinics, primarily on nurses' attitudes towards FCC, and secondarily on parental satisfaction with healthcare. With this in mind, this study aims to determine the primary impact of the nurse centered FCC educational training, provided to nurses in pediatric clinics, on nurses' attitudes towards FCC, and its secondary impact on parental satisfaction with healthcare.
This study; In order to investigate the effect of progressive relaxation exercises on sleep quality, serotonin and melatonin levels in cardiac patients with sleep problems, a pretest/posttest experimental design study will be conducted with a control group. The data of this study will be collected between May 2022 and December 2022. The research will be carried out with a total of 60 (experimental group=30, control group=30) patients treated for heart failure, myocardial infarction and angina pectoris in the cardiology clinic of a university hospital. The data of the study will be collected using the Richard's Campbell Sleep Scale and the Commercial ELISA kit. Progressive relaxation exercises will be applied to the patients included in the experimental group for 3 consecutive days. Before relaxation exercises, urine melatonin, serotonin level [5-hydroxyindolacetic acid (5-HIAA) and 6-sulphatoxymelatonin(6-HMS)] measurement and sleep quality will be measured according to the kit procedure. In the analysis of the data, significance p <0.05 will be accepted. Institutional permission, ethics committee approval, and written consent from the participants were obtained before the study.
The elderly population is increasing in the world. Therefore, it is necessary to competent nurses who can diagnose the care needs of the elderly. Trainings should be planned in order to improve nurses' perception of individualized care in the care and attitudes positively of elderly patient. In post-graduate education, the use of traditional teaching methods and innovative simulation-based education will facilitate the increase of knowledge and skills. The aim of this study is to examine the effect of simulation-based education on the improve of nurses' perception of individualized care and positive attitudes towards the elderly. The study is quasi-experimental with a pre-test post-test design. Before the data collection phase, a simulation-based training program consisting of three stages was created. The data of the study were collected in a university hospital between October 2021 and April 2022, with the socio-demographic characteristics form, the perception of individualized care and the attitude scale towards the elderly. The data will be analyzed in the package program and the study will be reported.
One of the most important duties and responsibilities of nurses is drug administration. During drug administration, the nurse uses appropriate administration techniques and ensures patient safety by knowing the drugs and their side effects. This study aimed to examine the effect of nurse training on the improvement of subcutaneous heparin applications. In this study, it was planned to train nurses by using two different training methods. These methods are online and face-to-face training. In both methods, it was planned to evaluate the subcutaneous drug administration knowledge and skill of nurses before and after the training.
Stress and pain control are vital for newborns, especially preterm babies. While painful procedures cause physiological changes in the short term, they negatively affect brain development in the long term. Non-pharmacological interventions with proven efficacy include: fetal position, sucrose, breastfeeding, breast milk, maternal presence, non-nutritive sucking, swaddling (wrapping) and skin-to-skin contact, as well as developmentally supportive positioning. Evaluating the effectiveness of nursing practices to be performed on babies, scientifically proving the most beneficial application that will both alleviate pain and increase their comfort in painful procedures such as aspiration and being more beneficial to babies are among the most basic benefits. Thanks to these applications, it is predicted that your baby will experience less pain and provide more comfort. Therefore, this study aim to comparison the effects of facilitated tucking, swaddling and prone position applied during endotracheal aspiration on pain, comfort and physiological parameters in preterm infants.
