NCT ID: NCT02055859 Active, not recruiting - Useful Hearing Clinical Trials

Cyberknife Radiosurgery for Patients With Neurinomas

ACOUNEU
Start date: March 15, 2011
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Most vestibular schwannomas are benign and slow-growing. Based on that fact, conservative management with serial imaging is a viable alternative. For patients who undergo treatment because of tumor growth, progressive symptoms, or personal preference, options include serial observation, microsurgical resection, fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy, and stereotactic single-session radiosurgery. Despite improved radiosurgical techniques and lower marginal doses, a recent report has shown a somewhat disappointing 10-year actuarial hearing preservation rate of 44.5%, with hearing loss developing as much as 6 years after. Fractionation of the prescribed dose may takes some advantages from radiobiologic principles to reduce toxicity and maintain tumor control. Staged frame-based radiotherapy using a 12-hour interfraction interval was successfully used at Stanford university and has shown a hearing preservation rate of 77% at 2 years of follow-up. The aim of the present protocol is to evaluate the hearing preservation, the local control and toxicity after single-session (sSRS) or multi-session (3 fractions) radiosurgery (mSRS) by using the frameless robotic CyberKnife® system (Accuray Incorporated, Sunnyvale, CA, USA). In order to investigate about this a randomised controlled double harm (sSRS vs mSRS) trial was designed.

NCT ID: NCT01938677 Completed - Clinical trials for Vestibular Schwannoma

Gamma Knife Radiosurgery vs Initial Conservative Treatment for Vestibular Schwannoma Patients With Preserved Hearing, a Prospective Randomized Study

Start date: April 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The effect of Gamma knife radiosurgery (GKRS) on hearing loss, in patients with vestibular schwannoma (VS) and preserved hearing is still unclear. Retrospective data indicate that the hearing is preserved in most patient years after the gamma knife treatment. Recent prospective data suggests that radiosurgery could be a hearing preserving treatment for these patients. The main objective of this study is to evaluate if GKRS can inhibit progression of hearing loss in patients with VS. Patients with preserved hearing will be offered to participate in the study and randomized ether to GKRS or initial conservative treatment for their vestibular schwannoma. They will then be followed with scheduled magnetic resonance image(MRI) and audiometry and evaluated after one, three and five years after treatment.

NCT ID: NCT01880749 Completed - Clinical trials for Neurofibromatosis Type 2

Exploring the Activity of RAD001 in Vestibular Schwannomas and Meningiomas

Start date: June 2013
Phase: Early Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective is to estimate the proportions of vestibular schwannomas (VS) and meningiomas after 10 days of exposure to the study drug RAD001 at a dose of 10 mg daily, as determined by immunohistochemistry. This is a "phase 0" PK (pharmacokinetic) and PD (pharmacodynamic) study of RAD001 in patients with Neurofibromatosis Type 2-related and sporadic VS and meningiomas. Enrolled patients will take RAD001 prior to a scheduled VS or meningioma surgery, and blood and tissue samples will be obtained for further analysis.

NCT ID: NCT01767792 Completed - Clinical trials for Neurofibromatosis Type 2

Phase 2 Study of Bevacizumab in Children and Young Adults With NF 2 and Progressive Vestibular Schwannomas

Start date: May 15, 2013
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

To determine the hearing response rate at 24 weeks after treatment with bevacizumab for symptomatic vestibular schwannomas (VS) in children and young adults with Neurofibromatosis Type 2 (NF 2).

NCT ID: NCT01743248 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Vestibular Schwannoma

Vestibular Schwannoma and Psychological Factors

Start date: August 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The surgery of a vestibular schwannoma induces balance disorders which have a an impact on the patient's daily life and disrupt their quality of life. But the balance disorders don't seem to be the only ones factors that impaired the patient's quality of life. It has been alrealdy shown that emotional and psychological factors are also related to patient's quality of life. This study evaluates the relationship between the balance control compensation and these factors (i.e. emotional and psychological) in the vestibular schwannoma resection process.

NCT ID: NCT01490476 Completed - Neurofibromatosis 2 Clinical Trials

Efficacy and Safety Study of RAD001 in the Growth of the Vestibular Schwannoma(s) in Neurofibromatosis 2 (NF2) Patients

AFINF2
Start date: January 2012
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the study is to determine if RAD001 treatment will shrink or slow the growth of the vestibular schwannoma(s) in Neurofibromatosis 2 (NF2) patients.

NCT ID: NCT01449604 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Vestibular Schwannoma

Stereotactic Radiation in Vestibular Schwannoma

Start date: October 2011
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine whether stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS)and stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT)are effective in the treatment of vestibular schwannoma (VS).

NCT ID: NCT01345136 Terminated - Clinical trials for Neurofibromatosis Type 2

Study of RAD001 for Treatment of NF2-related Vestibular Schwannoma

Start date: July 1, 2015
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the study is to determine if RAD001 treatment will shrink or slow the growth of the vestibular schwannoma(s) in Neurofibromatosis 2 (NF2) patients. Secondary objectives include determining if RAD001 treatment will improve hearing ability in NF2 patients. RAD001 is an oral drug that is approved by Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for other types of tumors, it is not approved by the FDA for treatment of NF2 related tumors.
