NCT ID: NCT05587660 Completed - Clinical trials for Neck of Femur Fracture

Early Functional Outcomes in Unisplaced Neck of Femur Fracture Treated With Partially Threaded and Fully Threaded Cannulated Screw Fixation in Patients of Age 60 and Above

Start date: July 1, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study is done to compare the partially threaded versus fully threaded cannulated screw fixation methods in stable neck of femur fracture in terms of early functional outcomes in patients of age 60 and above. A total of 82 (41 in each group) patients of both genders, aged 60 or above. The Radiographic Union Scale for Hip (RUSH) and Harris Hip score to be used to evaluate fracture healing.

NCT ID: NCT05002725 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Neck of Femur Fracture

PENG Versus Femoral Nerve Block in Neck of Femur Fracture

Start date: January 28, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Neck of femur (NOF) fracture is a common presentation to the emergency department, particularly in our older population. NOF fracture is associated with a high social and economic cost with significant effects on patients' quality of life. Analgesia and ambulation are important determinants of outcome following NOF surgery. We propose to compare whether PENG or Femoral Nerve Block is associated with a greater degree of quadriceps motor dysfunction.

NCT ID: NCT04514601 Completed - Orthopedic Disorder Clinical Trials

A Quality Improvement Project to Assess and Refine the Handover Process at Morning Trauma Meetings

Start date: October 23, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This project was intended to observe the handover of trauma and orthopaedic patients at a district general hospital in the UK. Following the implementation of a standard operating protocol, the handover of patient information improved including neck of femur fracture patients significantly. The study can therefore be utilised by other similarly structured departments to improve the handover process, thereby improving patient safety.

NCT ID: NCT02577081 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Neck of Femur Fracture

Assessment of the Risk of Contralateral Non Simultaneous Neck of Femur Fracture in the Elderly.

Start date: January 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Neck of femur fractures are common in the elderly and are the source of significant morbidity and mortality. This study is based on a new technique developed in Ben Gurion University, with which investigators are able to asses the structural 3 dimensional strength of a bone by applying a unique simulation on a CAT scan of the bone. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the risk of a contralateral neck of femur fracture after the first neck of femur fracture and to estimate the potential fracture characteristics.
