Filter by:Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is a distressing and common complication after surgery. The concept of clinical important PONV (CI-PONV) assesses the impact of PONV on patient-reported outcomes. This research aims to conduct an analysis of the risk factors contributing to CI-PONV utilizing the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) and stepwise regression techniques. All 1154 patients participating in the FDP-PONV trial are included in this study and categorized into two groups: the CI-PONV group and the non-CI-PONV group. CI-PONV is defined as the occurrence of PONV with a simplified PONV impact scale score of 5 or higher within 24 hours after surgery. The LASSO method is employed to identify the most relevant variables from an initial set of 56 related variables and stepwise regression is used to further refine the selection of the ultimate predictors.
Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) can lead to serious postoperative complications, but most symptoms are mild. Clinically important PONV (CIPONV) refers to PONV symptoms that have a significant impact on the patient's well-being and recovery. Present predictive systems for PONV are mainly concentrated on early PONV. However, there is currently no suitable prediction model for delayed PONV, particularly delayed CI-PONV. This study aims to develop and validate a prediction model for delayed CI-PONV using machine learning algorithms utilizing perioperative data from patients undergoing laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgery. All 1154 patients in the FDP-PONV trial will be enrolled in this study. Delayed CIPONV is defined as experiencing CIPONV between 25-120 hours after surgery. After selecting the modeling variables from 81 perioperative clinical features, six machine learning models are established to generate the risk prediction models for delayed CIPONV. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve, accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, F1 score and Brier score are used to evaluate the model performance. Shape Additive explanation analysis was conducted to evaluate feature importance.

Studies have reported that without any antiemetic prevention treatment, the overall incidence of PONV in surgical operations is up to 20-30%, and the incidence of PONV in high-risk operations such as gynecological laparoscopy is higher. Postoperative nausea and vomiting can lead to perioperative complications and seriously affect the prognosis of patients. Although various preventive and therapeutic measures have been adopted in clinic, the incidence of perioperative nausea and vomiting is still high. Therefore, it is of great clinical significance to explore more effective and feasible methods to prevent the occurrence of PONV. Stellate ganglion block has been proved to be widely used in clinic and can play a positive role in multiple organs and systems of the whole body. In clinical work, stellate ganglion block is more widely used in the treatment of various pain, autonomic nerve disorders and other diseases. However, there are few clinical studies on whether stellate ganglion block can be used as an effective and feasible means to prevent postoperative nausea and vomiting and the related mechanisms to prevent the possible occurrence of nausea and vomiting. Therefore, this project aims to explore the preventive effect of stellate ganglion block on postoperative nausea and vomiting in gynecological laparoscopic surgery patients, and to explore its possible mechanism.

Intraoperative lidocaine infusion is a frequently preferred method in surgical procedures due to its reducing the need for opioids, providing better postoperative pain control, reducing postoperative nausea and vomiting and increasing rapid recovery. Our aim in this study is to show the effect of intraoperative lidocaine infusion on reducing complications such as pain, nausea, vomiting, and the need for opioid analgesia that occur after hysteroscopy operations, which are often performed in gynecology clinics.

Therefore, postoperative nausea and vomiting of thyroid is still a concern in clinical anesthesia work, so it is urgent to explore more simple and effective measures to prevent thyroid PONV. SGB is the injection of local anesthetics into loose connective tissue containing stellate ganglion. It has a clear effect on postoperative analgesia of thyroid surgery, and can play a certain role in preventing thyroid PONV by reducing the application of perioperative opioids. Few studies have reported that the incidence of PONV can be significantly reduced after the application of SGB in patients with thyroid surgery, which provides a certain basis for the prevention of thyroid PONV. Therefore, this study aims to explore the effect of right stellate ganglion block on preventing postoperative nausea and vomiting of thyroid, and to explore the possible mechanism of action.
This study analyzed the efficacy and safety results of HSK21542 injection for the prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting in a multicentre, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled dose-exploration study, as well as the real-world clinical routine use of troisisone and other (not limited to other setron drugs) for the prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting and related adverse reaction treatment data. It was transformed into an effect indicator, and the possible costs involved in the study were analyzed, reasonable price parameters of HSK21542 injection were set, and the economic value of HSK21542 was explored.
This study explores the effectiveness of combining electroacupuncture with olanzapine-containing four-drug antiemetic therapy to mitigate chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) in patients with breast cancer. The research aims to assess the adjunctive benefits of electroacupuncture in enhancing the antiemetic effects of conventional medication, particularly in the context of highly emetogenic chemotherapy regimens. By investigating the synergistic potential of these modalities, the study seeks to provide insights into optimizing supportive care strategies for patients with breast cancer undergoing intensive chemotherapy treatment.
This study to determine the effectiveness of a combination of pre-surgical laserpuncture with standard anti-emetic therapy for PONV symptoms in adult patients after strabismus surgery under general anesthesia compared to a combination of pre-surgical placebo laserpuncture with standard anti-emetic therapy. Research design using a double blinded randomized controlled trial (RCT) where research subjects and data takers who will be disguised. The research will be carried out in the Operation and Inpatient Room, Kirana Building, RSUPN Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo (RSCM) with research subjects as adult patients undergoing strabismus surgery under general anesthesia. Assessment of nausea and vomiting using AVS ( Analog Visual Scale) consists of scoring using a score from 1-5 which indicates the severity of nausea and vomiting.
Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) are common complications after laparoscopic cholecystectomy. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of the administration of prophylactic oral dexamethasone at night before surgery in preventing PONV after elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
