NCT ID: NCT04726852 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Myocardial Contraction

Arterial Pressure vs. TE Echo dp/dt

Start date: February 2, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study seeks to assess the strength of correlation between arterial pressure waveform derived contractility as quantified by the maximal rate of pressure change ans a function of time (dp/dtmax) and transesophageal echocardiographically (TEE) determined contractility, also quantified by dp/dtmax. In addition, correlations between dp/dtmax. In addition, TEE derived assessment of ejection fraction will provide guidance for relating this new parameter with other standard contractility assessments.

NCT ID: NCT01305304 Completed - Clinical trials for Myocardial Infarction

Magnetic Resonance Technique in the Assessment of Exercise-induced Long- and Short-Term Changes in Cardiac Function and Morphology

Start date: January 2011
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Until now it has been assumed that regular endurance training has a positive influence on cardiac function and that the positive effect increases with increasing intensity. However, little is known about the effects of intense endurance stress on the heart. According to current knowledge repeated exposure to strenuous endurance activity may lead to minor but possibly irreversible damage to the heart with resultant scarring of the heart's muscle. Within this study the investigators attempt to find out by different analytical methods - in particular magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasound of the heart - to what extent the heart muscle is affected by long term intense endurance exercise and which changes in cardiac function and morphology can possibly be found. Therefore the investigators compare former national competitive endurance athletes with sedentary controls.

NCT ID: NCT01179802 Completed - Heart Failure Clinical Trials

Exercise-induced Changes in Cardiac Function & Morphology

Start date: July 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Until now it has been assumed that regular endurance training has a positive influence on cardiac function and that the positive effect increases with increasing intensity. However, little is known about the effects of intense endurance stress on the heart. According to current knowledge repeated exposure to strenuous endurance activity may lead to minor but possibly irreversible damage to the heart with resultant scarring of the heart's muscle. Within this study we attempt to find out by different analytical methods - in particular magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasound of the heart - to what extent the heart muscle is affected by an intense endurance exercise, i.e. the "Jungfrau-Marathon", and which changes can possibly be found. Due to repeated measurements we will obtain further information on the short-term course of possible changes. Hypotheses: A single bout of prolonged strenuous exercise (PSE) leads to transient alteration in cardiac function accompanied by the appearance of biomarkers for myocardial damage.
