Filter by:This study aims to explore the health effects of group games for patients with chronic mental illness. The goal of this clinical intervention study is to compare the efficacy of group games in two ways (experimental group/ group game-based or control group) to improve the health of patients with chronic mental illness. The main questions it aims to answer are: The efficacy of applying group game-based activities to increase interest and improve the physical fitness of patients with chronic mental illness. Also, the goal of this clinical interventional study is to clarify the positive benefits of psychological and social aspects. Subjects will be asked to complete the questionnaire and physical ability examination after filling out the consent of this study. Participants will be randomly divided into two groups. Participants in the experimental group will accept the group game-based activities for 12 weeks (twice per week, 22 times). In contrast, Participants in the control group will accept the activities the psychiatric day wards and halfway house offer as usual. After 12 weeks of intervention, The Participants in both groups will be asked to fill out the questionnaire and physical ability examination. One month later, Participants in both groups will be asked to fill out the questionnaire and physical ability examination again. The study will last for 4 months. The time points for completing the questionnaire are listed following: Baseline/ pre-intervention test(T1), First post-intervention test (T2, 12 weeks later) and Second post-intervention test (T3, 4 weeks later). The researchers will compare the difference in effectiveness between the two groups.
The study aims to evaluate the treatment effects as well as inhibiting and promoting factors in the implementation of the new INTUK care offer in a sample of "heavy users", i.e. psychiatric patients with 4 or more prior inpatient admissions at Klinik Zugersee, by means of a longitudinal, prospective-retrospective study. For this purpose, medical records will be analysed and participants will be asked to fill out questionnaires addressing different aspects of mental health, quality of life and patient satisfaction. In addition, semi-structured interviews will be conducted with a subset of patients as well as staff members of the INTUK care offer.
The validation of the French version of the Exercise in Mental Illness Questionnaire - Health Practitioner Version (EMIQ-HP) is a prospective observational case-only study involving: (a) translation to French, (b) an expert consensus meeting with French speaking experts from Canada to reach a first version, (c) back translation to English, (d) evaluation of the back-translation by the original authors of the EMIQ-HP, (e) an expert consensus meeting with French speaking experts from Canada to reach a final version based on comments of the original authors, and (f) test-retest reliability study. Test-retest reliability will be analysed through two points of measurement with an interval of 7 days.
This 52-week, open-label extension study is to evaluate the long-term safety and tolerability of ACP-204 in subjects with ADP.
This study is designed to test the effectiveness and implementation of an early intervention therapy for children and their primary caregivers by using existing school counselors across several school districts. The intervention is a 6-8 week caregiver-child intervention (THRIVE) which will be conducted via video conference in the family's home (i.e., zoom), or within the school setting (or a combination of those 2 modalities depending upon feasibility for the family). THRIVE will be compared to an asynchronous on-line parenting education program, Parenting Wisely (PW). This online parenting course will be accessed at www.parentingwisely.com. Existing school counselors will be trained in the delivery of THRIVE to 3-7 year old children (in preschool, kindergarten and first grade) and their primary caregivers. In addition to testing the effectiveness of THRIVE compared to PW, we will also compare two implementation strategies: THRIVE-Coached and THRIVE-Low Coached (LC). We will assess ongoing coaching of THRIVE trainees to increase therapist efficacy and adherence to the intervention (THRIVE-Coached). This will be compared to implementation of THRIVE with low supports (e.g. weekly supervision) provided only for the first case following the initial training (THRIVE-LC]. Compared to those randomized to PW, we expect children who receive THRIVE will have significantly better behavioral and socio-emotional outcomes. Caregivers who receive THRIVE will experience less parenting stress and depression, more optimism and will show more nurturing, emotional tolerance, and supportive caregiving. Therapists in the THRIVE-Coached condition will deliver the intervention with higher achieved outcomes and find the intervention to be more acceptable than therapists in the THRIVE-LC condition. Therapists in the THRIVE-Coached condition will be more likely to plan to sustain the intervention following the completion of the study than those in the THRIVE-LC condition. Parents and children receiving THRIVE from therapists in the THRIVE-Coached condition will have better socio-emotional outcomes than those in the THRIVE-LC and PW conditions.
This is a Phase 3 global, multicenter, 52-week, open-label extension (OLE) rollover study for subjects completing study CN012-0026 or CN012-0027. Subjects (randomized or non-randomized) who complete the 38-week CN012-0026 or CN012-0027 study will be eligible to enroll in CN012-0028. The primary objective of the study is to assess the long-term safety and tolerability of KarXT in subjects with psychosis associated with Alzheimer's Disease.
This is a pilot trial to examine the feasibility and preliminary effect of a multilevel intervention 'Nudges to Quit' on smoking cessation in patients with serious mental illness who smoke in a community mental health center (CMHC). "Nudges to Quit" is a multilevel intervention to increate engagement of patient, case worker, and pharmacist with tobacco treatment. The pilot trial is to generate the needed evidence for designing a future large trial to evaluate the effect of 'Nudges to Quit' as a multilevel intervention to increase tobacco treatment and reduce tobacco use among patients with serious mental illness.
Major depressive disorder (MDD), is a major medical and economic burden for today's society. About 30% of MDD patients develop treatment-resistant depression - TRD with the related sequelae in terms of worse prognosis. If several risk factors can be assessed readily on presentation, it can guide treatment planning and ultimately improve clinical outcomes. Currently, unlike other areas of medicine, poly-risk tools to facilitate this stratification in practice among patients with MDD are lacking but demanded in the era of personalised/precision medicine - a challenge that the project takes up. Ketamine - a glutamate N-methyl-d-aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonist, is the first exemplary agent with rapid (within hours) antidepressant effects, even in TRD patients.Its mechanisms of actions (MoA) are still unclear but greatly demanded. So far, insights about ketamine's MoA come from preclinical animal studies but it's known that animal models have limited ability/effectiveness in mimicking the clinical complexity and were not subjected to sequential application of different treatments - a key requisite in humans to be defined as TRD. This ambitious inter/multidisciplinary project, has 3 goals: 1. To develop a clinical risk stratification tool for predicting TRD development. 2. To unravel ketamine's fast-acting antidepressant mechanisms of action (MoA) on mature neurons obtained from human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) obtained from (ketamine-responsive & non-responsive) patients with TRD. 3. To give maximum visibility to the project and spreading its contents & findings to and in a way understood by all target groups variously implicated/interested in project research & innovation.
The aim of the present study is to assess the current state of mental health of educators and young persons at the education centre for health and care professions in St. Gallen (BZGS) by conducting screening instruments. Furthermore, the investigators aim to identify risk and protective factors for the mental health of vocational trainees in health and care professions. These results are both essential for further research and educational practice. Moreover, results may maximise the chances of creating in future meaningful intervention for young persons in this specific setting.
Existing data suggest that both trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) are very common among individuals with psychosis. The presence of PTSD symptoms in psychosis is associated with worse clinical outcomes and poorer social functioning. However, PTSD is a poorly attended and poorly studied condition among this population. Research to date indicates that trauma-focused treatments are safe and effective for PTSD, even when psychotic comorbidity is present. Recent systematic reviews of psychological interventions for trauma in psychosis found that are effective in reducing trauma symptoms, suggesting that they should be implemented in front-line services. Nonetheless, larger confirmative trials are required to form robust conclusions.The aim of this project is to examine the efficacy of comprehensive third-generation protocol for people with comorbid trauma and psychosis.
