Filter by:The study investigates if a computer-based clinical decision support tool for skin cancer may improve the diagnostic accuracy of general practitioners (GPs). The aim of the program is to help GPs increase their diagnostic accuracy, in particular regarding the selection of suspicious skin lesions that need biopsy or referral to specialist health care for further assessment. Half of the physicians in the trial will have the clinical decision support tool available during consultations, while the other half has no such tool available. We hypothesize that general practitioners using the clinical decision support tool will have a higher number of correct classifications of skin lesions compared to doctors without the tool.
This study will have two phases, with an added usability test after Phase I and before Phase 2. Phase 1: Cognitive Interviews of materials in Spanish. Phase 2: Personalized Genomic Testing for Skin Cancer (PGT-SC). The overarching goal of this study is to learn more about how to maximize the availability, comprehension and appropriate uptake of personalized genomics among different populations in New Mexico. Primary Care patients will be recruited in their primary health clinic to complete surveys about their understanding and beliefs of skin cancer and behaviors that might help prevent skin cancer. 6 out of every 7 patients will then be asked to go to a website to learn more about skin cancer risk. Once participants have completed the education modules on this site, participants will be given the option to request and complete a skin cancer genetic testing kit. All participants will be contacted again after three months to complete a follow-up set of surveys about skin cancer.
This is a single-center prospective clinical trial to evaluate non-inferiority of indocyanine green guided sentinel lymph node biopsy compared with the gold standard Technecium99 guided sentinel lymph node biopsy in patients with cancers and subjected to surgery. The diagnostic performance and the tolerance of indocyanine green (ICG) to the radio-isotope (Techniciun99) in the detection of sentinel lymph nodes will be assess using an "Optonuclear" probe (EURORAD S.A.) and QUEST camera
The purpose of this Pilot Study is to investigate the safety, side effects, and benefits of tumor- infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) when they are given with the drug nivolumab. Nivolumab is a type of immunotherapy - a drug that is used to boost the ability of the immune system to fight cancer, infection, and other diseases. The primary endpoints of this pilot trial will be the safety and feasibility of the treatment regimens.
RATIONALE: Studying samples of tissue and blood in the laboratory from patients treated with ipilimumab with or without sargramostim may help doctors learn more about the effects of ipilimumab and sargramostim on cells. It may also help doctors understand how well patients respond to treatment. PURPOSE: This research trial studies tissue and blood biomarkers in patients with stage III melanoma or stage IV melanoma treated with ipilimumab with or without sargramostim.
RATIONALE: Studying samples of blood from patients treated with sargramostim in the laboratory may help doctors learn more about the effects of sargramostim on cells. It may also help doctors understand how patients respond to treatment. PURPOSE: This research trial studies biomarkers in blood samples from patients with stage IV melanoma previously treated with sargramostim.
RATIONALE: Studying samples of tissue in the laboratory from patients receiving carboplatin and paclitaxel with or without sorafenib tosylate may help doctors learn more about the effects of this treatment on cells. It may also help doctors understand how well patients respond to treatment. PURPOSE: This research study is studying biomarkers in predicting response to chemotherapy in patients with advanced or metastatic melanoma previously treated with carboplatin and paclitaxel with or without sorafenib tosylate.
The purpose of this study is to test the side effects of an investigational vaccine with an immune booster, or 2 different boosters together. Investigators also want to find out its effects on the immune system and whether it will decrease the chance that melanoma will return.
This is a pilot phase 1, open-label, single center, multi-dose, dose-escalation study of BMS-936558 in combination with or without a peptide vaccine. The purpose of this study is to test the side effects of an investigational vaccine with an immune booster. Investigators also wish to find out its effects on the patient's immune system and whether it will shrink their melanoma.
RATIONALE: Studying samples of blood from patients with cancer in the laboratory may help doctors learn more about changes that occur in peptides and proteins and identify biomarkers related to cancer. PURPOSE: This research study is looking at blood samples from patients with malignant melanoma, metastatic breast cancer, advanced lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, or colorectal cancer.
