NCT ID: NCT06037616 Recruiting - Medical Students Clinical Trials

Teaching Simple Skin Sutures to Medical Students

E-SUTURE
Start date: August 30, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Learning the simple skin suture is part of the surgical basics required for all medical students, including future general practitioners. However, there is no data in the educational literature to help choose the best learning technique. Several teams have offered video learning showing the correct technique. Level n+1 peer learning was also proposed, without and with supervision by an expert. The investigators propose to carry out a prospective study comparing the quality of sutures and knowledge according to the chosen learning method.

NCT ID: NCT05817682 Active, not recruiting - Medical Students Clinical Trials

Interprofessional Education of Medical Students Using Medical Simulation

Start date: October 20, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Due to the growing role of medical simulation in the education of medical students and the development of cooperation in interdisciplinary teams in the health care sector, a study was designed to examine the relationship between the competences and resources of students and the role of education through simulation classes based on the development of technical and in cooperation with specialists in these fields. Researchers want to focus on students' levels of stress and anxiety, coping strategies, and self-efficacy. An important element will be the self-assessment of students on the level of their non-technical competences.

NCT ID: NCT05807828 Recruiting - Osteoarthritis, Hip Clinical Trials

VR Simulation and Basic Skills in THA

MD-VR-THA
Start date: March 26, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This prospective randomised clinical trial aims to test if virtual reality (VR) simulation helps acquire basic surgical skills in total hip arthroplasty (THA) by medical students. The main question[s] it aims to answer are: 1. Can VR simulation develop the medical students' basic surgical skills and medical knowledge in THA? 2. Will VR simulation become a part of orthopaedic surgical education? Participants will be randomised into two groups (VR and control). 1. They will be asked to watch a very detailed video explaining basic rules and skills in implanting the acetabular cup and femoral stem in THA 2. The VR group will perform at least three VR THA sessions concerning cup (inclination) and stem (version) implantation 3. Then all participants will be asked to implant a cup and a stem in a predefined inclination and version, respectively, in sawbones 4. The mean difference between the predefined and the actual implanted cup inclination and version of the stem will be compared between groups

NCT ID: NCT05123573 Completed - COVID-19 Pandemic Clinical Trials

Self-Perceived in Medical Students Undergoing Distance Learning

SPMSUDL
Start date: October 19, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Our primary objective is identifying the degree of self-perceived competence in medical students without clinical rotations during the COVID-19 pandemic to know how prepared the students could be when they are professionals because they lack clinical skills in front of an actual patient and can be affected to be accepted in hospitals because they will have to acquire a phase of training later. Without a clinical rotation, one can be deprived of the essential educational value. The study design is an observational cross-section study in which an anonymous survey will be shared online on Google Forms platform. Students will be asked for their participation; after obtaining verbal and consent, the survey will be distributed using social media groups such as foundation school groups. For this study, the Spanish version of the Self-Perceived Competence scale will be used (REF). This scale is comprised of 21 questions divided into five factors that assess: 1) demonstration of the essential clinical skills, 2) demonstration of clinical reasoning, decision making, and problem-solving skills, 3) management of life-threatening medical conditions, 4) management of common medical problems and 5) placing patients' needs and safety at the center of the care process. Each item has a Likert scale answers of 4 options ranging from "incompetent (1)", "somewhat incompetent (2)", "somewhat.

NCT ID: NCT03653221 Completed - Medical Students Clinical Trials

Developing of Virtual Reality Based Neurologic Examination Teaching Tool(VRNET)

Start date: March 18, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of the virtual reality based neurologic examination teaching tool(VRNET) for medical students. VRNET is a new teaching tool for neurologic examinations by offering different neurologic signs of the face, with which medical students can experience more realistic patients.
