In the framework of PhD research, the investigators will present a visualization of estimation of CVDs risk and the possibility of monitoring blood glucose levels in real-time. Based on the results, the investigators will assess the association of these with lifestyle change. The findings highlight the need for sufficiently reliable and high-quality evaluations of visualizations, technologies or applications used in the family medicine.

Methylation Diet and Lifestyle Study

The maintenance of health and the progression of disease are associated with an individual's genetic make-up and environmental factors, including lifestyle choices (such as diet, exercise, behaviors, stressors, sleep, tobacco and alcohol use), environmental exposures and socioeconomic determinants. Environmental factors have been shown to influence, sometimes rapidly, epigenetic processes thereby influencing genetic expression. Regulation of the human genome by the epigenome is now regarded as a cornerstone, heritable, physiologic process, playing a key role in phenotypic expression of health and disease. DNA methylation is a well-researched, primary epigenetic process. Aberrant DNA methylation resulting in hyper- or hypomethylated regions of the genome, generally results in inhibition or expression of certain genes and has been associated with the pathogenesis of numerous conditions, ranging from inflammation and accelerated aging, to cancer, autoimmunity, diabetes, heart disease, dementia, allergic disease, posttraumatic stress disease and others. Likewise, certain healthy diet and lifestyle habits have been demonstrated to favorably influence DNA methylation patterns. Understanding that environmental factors can potently and sometimes rapidly, favorably or negatively influence epigenetic expression, a short-term diet and lifestyle intervention may significantly augment DNA methylation expression. The purpose of this study is to evaluate a 9-week diet and lifestyle intervention on patient-reported quality of life, symptoms, and DNA and biochemical methylation-related biomarkers in healthy males ages 50-72.

Healthy Bellies - Intervention Program During Pregnancy on Women and Newborn

"Healthy Bellies" is an intervention program with pregnant women, based on the promotion of healthy lifestyles. It aims to evaluate the impact of the program in the health of both pregnant and newborn. This trial is being conducted with pregnant women, divided into control and intervention group. Are performed 3 assessment periods: 1 - beginning of the program; 2 - postpartum; 3 - 1 month after delivery. The intervention group has a program of 3 weekly physical exercise classes and the control group has the basic information that is usually provided by health professionals. With this program, it is expected to contribute with evidence to the best practice in the field of interventions in pregnancy and improve health outcomes of both pregnant and newborn.

Active Your Health: A Workplace Healthy Lifestyle Program

Currently there are very few studies that integrate classical interventions (screening clinics) and online tools in order to obtain sustainable lifestyle changes in workers efficiently. The current project aims to evaluate the efficiency of a combined approach versus the more traditional approach. Health Data collected by CAPSANA in the workplace between 2012 and 2014 showed that, out of 4231 workers, 69% should aim to do more active lifestyle and 74% to a better nutrition profile. In addition, 53% of the sampled population were overweight. In this context, the current project aims to motivate aims to motivate and follow individuals towards a healthier lifestyle. To do so, the Activate Your Health will be implemented and tested using various options (limited to more complete) in several companies.

Multiple-component Workplace FRamed Intervention to Decrease Occupational Muscle Pain - FRIDOM

Several RCT studies have aimed to reduce either musculoskeletal disorders, sickness presenteeism, sickness absenteeism or a combination of these among females with high physical work demands. These studies have provided evidence that workplace health promotion (WHP) interventions are effective, but long-term effects are still uncertain. These studies either lack to succeed in maintaining intervention effects or lack to document if effects are maintained past a one-year period. FRIDOM (FRamed Intervention to Decrease Occupational Muscle pain) is a WHP program among health care workers. A job group characterized by having high physical work demands, musculoskeletal disorders, high sickness presenteeism - and absenteeism. FRIDOM aimed to reduce neck and shoulder pain and secondary to reduce sickness presenteeism and sickness absenteeism. An other secondary aim was to decrease lifestyle-diseases such as other musculoskeletal disorders as well as metabolic-, and cardiovascular disorders - and to maintain participation to regular physical exercise training, after a one year intervention period. The entire concept was tailored to a population of female health care workers. This was done through a multi-component intervention including 1) intelligent physical exercise training (IPET), dietary advice and weight loss (DAW) and cognitive behavioural training (CBT).
