An Intervention-Based Approach to Strengthen the Psychological Health of Children With Cystic Fibrosis and Their Mothers

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-threatening exocrine gland disease that is often diagnosed in childhood, and its incidence tends to increase and affect physical and mental health.The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the Intervention Program Based on Strengthening the Psychological Resilience of Children Diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis and Their Mothers, prepared for children with CF (8-12 years old) and their mothers.In the first stage, the CF experiences of children with cystic fibrosis and how they perceive these experiences will be examined with visual phenomenology, and their mothers' CF experiences and perceptions will be examined with phenomenology. In this regard, 10 children will be asked to draw pictures and their pictures will be analyzed. In-depth individual interviews will be held with mothers.In the 2nd stage, the effectiveness of the Intervention Program Based on Strengthening Psychological Resilience for Children Diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis and Their Mothers will be determined with a pre-test-post-test randomized controlled experimental design.In the literature review, Gpower analysis was performed (α: 0.05, β: 0.99, d: 1.88) based on the results of studies conducted with children diagnosed with CF and their parents, similar to this study, and 15 samples were used for each group. It is planned to recruit people. Considering the possibility of data loss in the study, it was always deemed appropriate to include 22 people for the group. It was planned to sample a total of 88 children with CF and their mothers, 44 in the intervention group and 44 in the control group. In the 3rd stage, after the experiment, the participants' experiences regarding the intervention program will be examined through interviews and qualitative research method. Thus, qualitative interviews will be conducted before and after the experiment. Data will be collected using these tools: Children; Child and Mother Descriptive Characteristics Form, Semi-Structured Interview Form,Respiratory Function Test, Reorganized Cystic Fibrosis Questionnaire, Psychological Resilience Attitude and Skills Scale and Functional Disability Inventory; Mothers; The Revised Cystic Fibrosis Questionnaire, The Depression Anxiety and Stress Scale, Post-Traumatic Growth Scale and Brief Psychological Resilience Scale. Measurements will be taken before the intervention, after the intervention, at the 1st and 3rd months.

The Effect of Group-Based Laughter Yoga on Midwifery Students

This study was planned to determine the effect of laughter yoga on the secondary traumatic stress and depression levels experienced by midwifery students due to the use of social media after the earthquake. The universe of the research will be the third year students of Health Sciences University Hamidiye Health Sciences Faculty Midwifery Department (N:84). A total of 8 sessions of laughter yoga, 2 sessions per week, will be applied to midwifery students in the intervention group of the research. It will be determined as intervention (n:42) and control (n:42) groups. "Descriptive Information Form", "Secondary Traumatic Stress Scale for Social Media Users" and "Beck Depression Inventory" will be applied to both groups.

The Effect of Laughter Yoga on the Secondary Traumatic Stress Level and Psychological Well-Being of Midwives

Aim: The aim of this study is to determine the effect of laughter yoga, which includes various relaxing practices, on secondary trauma levels and psychological well-being of midwives. The study was planned as a randomized controlled experimental study. This RCT will be administered following the CONSORT 2010 guidelines. Material and Methods: Considering the case losses in the study, it was planned to create a total of 80 midwives, 40 in the intervention group and 40 in the control group. Laughter yoga will be practiced in the intervention group. No intervention will be made on the control group. Data were collected by using the Personal Information Form, Secondary Traumatic Stress Scale, Psychological Well-Being Scale.

Effect of Laughter Therapy on Surgical Stress, Oxygen Saturation, Pain and Comfort Level

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of laughter therapy based on Kolcaba comfort theory, on surgical stress, oxygen saturation, pain and comfort level in bariatric surgery patients. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Is there a significant difference between salivary cortisol levels of patients with and without laughter yoga before surgical intervention? 2. Is there a significant difference between the blood glucose levels of patients who were and were not treated with laughter yoga before surgical intervention? 3. Is there a significant difference between the mean scores on the perceived stress scale of patients who were and were not treated with laughter yoga before surgical intervention? 4. Is there a significant difference between the oxygen saturation levels of patients with and without laughter yoga before surgical intervention? 5. Is there a significant difference between the mean scores on the comfort level scale of patients who were and were not treated with laughter yoga before surgical intervention? 6. Is there a significant difference between the mean scores on the pain scale of patients who were and were not treated with laughter yoga before surgical intervention? The study population will consist of patients who will apply to the general surgery clinic of Düzce University Research and Application Center between June 2023 and April 2024, who will undergo bariatric surgery and agree to participate in the study. The data collected from these patients will be analyzed. From the patients who meet the inclusion criteria and agree to participate in the study; experimental and control groups will be determined by simple randomization. They will be informed about the research (a 15-minute presentation prepared by the researcher explaining what laughter therapy is) and their verbal and written permission will be obtained. The laughter yoga will be applied to experimanetal group. Every laughter yoga practice is 45 minutes long and is planned 3 times a week for a total of 6 sessions. Control group patients will take only routine nursing care.

This research is a randomized controlled study to evaluate the effect of Laughter yoga on the stress levels of infertility women. Randomization was provided in the sample included in the study, and it was divided into experimental and control groups. At the beginning of the study, the Infertility Stress Scale was applied to women in both groups to determine their stress levels. Afterwards, 8 sessions of laughter yoga were applied to the experimental group for 4 weeks. No application was made to the control group. After 4 weeks, the Infertility Stress Scale was administered to the women in both groups to re-determine their stress levels.

Laughter Yoga for Nursing Students Going Into Clinical Practice for the First Time

Clinical practice is an unseparated part of nursing curricula and crucial for students to learn professional skills and gain professional identity. Besides, the clinical practices have an important role in the development of professional identity, are also emotionally challenging and stressful. All these experiences can negatively affect the happiness of nursing students. The unhappiness and stress affect nursing students negatively in terms of their physical and mental health, and lead to decreased performance, increased risk of error, and decreased quality of nursing care. Additionally, nursing students' perspectives on the profession might be negatively affected. Therefore, increased the level of happiness and reduced stress level in nursing students is important in the clinical learning environment. Study authors could not find any studies which examining the effect of laughter yoga on the level of happiness and stress in nursing students who experienced clinical practice for the first time. Therefore, this project aimed to examine the effect of laughter yoga on the happiness and stress levels of nursing students. Study population composed of 61 students studying in the nursing department of a university located in the Central Anatolia Region. Students included in the study will be randomized into intervention and control groups according to a simple randomization rule. A total of 8 sessions of laughter yoga will be applied to the intervention group by the primary researcher for 4 weeks. Personal Information Form, Happiness Scale and Perceived Stress Scale for Nursing Students will be used as data collection tools in the research. Data collection tools will be applied in the form of pre-test and post-test. within the scope of this project, increased students' happiness and decreased stress levels were expected.
