NCT ID: NCT05447026 Completed - Periodontitis Clinical Trials

The Effect of Adjunctive Therapies in Regenerative Treatment of Stage III Grade C Periodontitis

Start date: January 1, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Anti-infective procedures play a very important role in the success of regenerative surgical treatment of aggressive periodontitis, Grade C periodontitis, which shows the newly named molar-incisor pattern according to the 2017 World Workshop Classification of Periodontal Diseases. In the present study, it was aimed to analyze the effects of photodynamic, photobiomodulation, and ozone therapy applications on periodontal healing, both clinically and immunologically, in addition to the surgical regenerative treatment of aggressive periodontitis. Forty adult individuals diagnosed with aggressive periodontitis who applied to Gazi University Faculty of Dentistry Department of Periodontology for the treatment of periodontal disease were included in the study. In addition to the regenerative surgical treatment using cortico-cancellous particle allograft and a resorbable collagen membrane in randomly determined areas with multiple intraosseous defects, topical ozone, antimicrobial photodynamic, and light-emitting diode (LED) photobiomodulation treatments were applied. Periodontal clinical parameters [plaque index (PI), gingival index (GI), bleeding on probing (BOP), probing pocket depths (PPD), clinical attachment level (CAL), gingival recession (GR), and width of keratinized gingival (WKG)] were examined and patient-centered postoperative evaluations, and early wound healing index (EHI) assessments were performed for 2 weeks after the operation. In addition, gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) samples from patients to determine the total amount and concentration of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), interleukin -6 (IL-6), Runt-related transcription factor 2 (RunX2), NEL-like 1 (Nell-1), Osterix and samples were quantified by Quantitative Real-Time PCR. The repeated measures ANOVA model was used for the analysis of variables in which both group and time measurements were taken.

NCT ID: NCT05100394 Completed - Tendinopathy Clinical Trials

Effectiveness of Laser Therapy on Proximal Hamstring Tendinopathy

Start date: April 5, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Proximal hamstring tendinopathy (PHT) is tendinopathy of the semimembranosus and/or biceps femoris/semitendinosus complex. Previous studies have shown the efficacy of laser therapy in the treatment of tendinopathy. To the best of the investigator's knowledge, no study has compared the effects of high-power LASER therapy with conventional physiotherapy programs in proximal hamstring tendinopathy patients. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the effects of high-power laser therapy on pain and muscle power in proximal hamstring tendinopathy patients.

NCT ID: NCT04765930 Recruiting - Melasma Clinical Trials

Combined Q-switched Nd:YAG Laser and Platelet Rich Plasma Versus Q- Switched Nd:YAG Laser Alone in Melasma

Start date: October 1, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Melasma is a common, acquired, esthetically disfiguring hypermelanosis of the face. Melasma is considered a disappointing challenge when treatment options are addressed. Diverse treatment modalities such as retinoic acid, hypo-pigmenting agents like hydroquinone, azelaic acid, and kojic acid, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and lasers have been tried for the treatment of melasma. There is no universally proven therapy that induces and maintains remission of the condition. Q-switched: Nd YAG laser toning and platelet rich plasma (PRP) are promising treatments for melasma. The aim of this work is evaluate the efficacy and safety of combined PRP and Q-switched: NdYAG laser in the treatment of melasma using clinical assessment, in addition to assessment of Melanin Index and Erythema Index.

NCT ID: NCT04297319 Terminated - Lasers Clinical Trials

The Use of Laser in the Treatment of Atrophic Vulvovaginitis

Start date: September 20, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study evaluates the efficacy and security of laser for atrophy treatment. Half of participants will receive the laser treatment and the other half placebo.

NCT ID: NCT04241991 Completed - Aged Clinical Trials

Photobiomodulation (PBM) Therapy on Muscle Performance in Elderly Women

Start date: November 1, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The present project aims to investigate the acute and chronic effects of laser photobiomodulation (PBM) at 808 nm on muscle performance in physically active elderly women. The hypothesis of this study is that laser PBM would improve muscle strength (i.e., MVIC and 1RM) and endurance (i.e., repetitions-to-failure, blood lactate levels), functional capacity (i.e., short physical performance battery score), and rating of perceived exertion when compared with placebo laser.

NCT ID: NCT04070638 Completed - Anthropometry Clinical Trials

Within and Between-rater Reproducibility and Validity of a Novel Portable Laser Height Meter

Start date: August 26, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Height may be used to calculate body mass index and reference interval for normal lung function, together with serving as an indicator for possible vertebral fractures in osteoporosis and growth retardation in children. Height is typically measured using the "gold standard" a fixed stadiometer in a clinical setting. However, newer studies have investigated alternative ways of measuring height using portable measuring devices with laser distance metres. The advantage with this type of measure is the ability to potentially perform reliable measure in settings outside clinical controlled settings. Recently, a measuring device which required adjustments of measuring axes by hand was developed, which resulted in a measurement error of 0.35 cm compared with 0.20-0.30 cm in fixed stadiometers. In order to optimise this, it was suggested that future measuring devices using laser distance meters should be fixed in one or more measurement axes. Thus, a novel portable height device, which is fixated in two axes using a laser distance metre has been developed.

NCT ID: NCT02816073 Completed - Clinical trials for Diabetic Retinopathy

Pattern Scanning Laser Pan-retinal Photocoagulation in Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy

Start date: December 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

A randomized study to assess the safety and efficacy of single-session pan-retinal photocoagulation (PRP) using Pattern Scan Laser (PASCAL) in proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) - 1,700 shots vs 2,500 shots
