Robot Assisted Total Hip Arthroplasties

This is a randomized controlled, multicenter study. According to the inclusion criteria, volunteers were recruited from patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty. After signing the informed consent, the subjects were assigned to the experimental group and the control group through the central randomization system. The researchers will complete the total hip arthroplasty for patients in the experimental group with the assistance of surgical robotic system. The patients in the control group do not use the surgical robotic system. The proportion of acetabular abduction angle and anteversion angle in the lewinnek safe area is the primary outcome measurement. The operation time, WOMAC score, Harris score, SF-36 and dislocation rate are the secondary outcome measurements. The incidence of complications, devices and other adverse events were recorded.

This study was designed to assess the effect of an 8-week plyometric-based hydro-kinesio therapy (Plyo-HKT) on pain, muscle strength, postural control, and functional performance in a convenience sample of children with hemophilic knee arthropathy (HKA). Forty-eight patients with HKA were randomly allocated to the Plyo-HKT group (n = 24, received the plyometric-based hydro-kinesio therapy program, twice/week, over 8 weeks) or the control group (n = 24, received standard exercise program). Both groups were assessed for pain, muscle strength, postural control, and functional performance pre and post-treatment.

Background: Optimal pain control with limited muscle weakness is paramount for a swift initiation of physical therapy and ambulation. Fascia iliaca compartment block (FICB) has been recommended since it offers the best pain control with low risk of motor block. Pericapsular nerve group block (PENG) with lateral femoral cutaneous nerve (LFCN) block has been proposed as an effective alternative to FICB that offers similar pain control with a considerably lower risk of motor block. This study aimed to compare the afore mentioned blocks and determine which one yielded the lowest NRS score.

Effects of Focal Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy in the Treatment of Temporomandibular Disorders of Muscular Origin

The objective of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) in improving pain in patients with TMD pain after 5 weeks of treatment, 1 month and 3 months after the end of treatment. As secondary objectives, we plan to evaluate the effectiveness of focal shockwave therapy in relation to: 1. Range of motion (ROM) of the temporomandibular joint using goniometry after 5 weeks of treatment; 2. Degree of inflammation, using ultrasound evaluation in the temporomandibular joint relating to the degree of pain after focal shockwave therapy for 5 weeks; 3. Jaw movement (MM), joint noise (RA), joint pressure (PA) and disability index (DI) will be measured at each treatment session and after 5 weeks of treatment, 1 month and 3 months after the end of treatment in the affected joints; 4. Quality of life will be assessed using the "Short Form Health 36" questionnaire (SF-36) during the 5 weeks of treatment, 1 month and 3 months after the end of treatment; 5. Pain control medication will also be considered and compared before and after the proposed treatment for 5 weeks. Safety will be assessed throughout the study by monitoring the incidence of study-related adverse events. All patients will be contacted periodically and encouraged to report any side effects.

Effectiveness of Cervical Treatment in Wind Musicians With Temporomandibular Dysfunction

Temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD) consists of a series of multifactorial signs and symptoms that occur in the orofacial region, with pain being the most common symptom. There is a close biomechanical and anatomical relationship between the cervical region and the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) through the trigemino-spinal nucleus. Objectives: To comparatively assess the improvement in subjects with TMD when adding cervical manual therapy to a postural treatment. Additionally, to determine if both cervical treatments separately produce changes in the TMJ. Materials and methods: An experimental study of randomized controlled clinical trial type was conducted. The study involved 30 wind instrument players randomly assigned to an experimental group (EG) and a control group (CG). After obtaining consent, measurements were taken for maximum mouth opening (MMO), cervical range of motion, and pain threshold to pressure (PTP) in the masseter and temporalis muscles. Both groups underwent active cervical postural treatment for 4 weeks, and the EG additionally received a cervical manual therapy protocol. An initial assessment was conducted before the intervention, and a final assessment was done one week after the last intervention. The statistical program SPSS was used for data analysis.

Intra-articular I-PRF Injections in Patients With Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction

The aim of the study will be to analyze the results of injection treatment in patients diagnosed with temporomandibular joint dysfunction manifested by pain and/or limited jaw mobility. The treatment will consist in the administration of autologous blood products into the cavities of the temporomandibular joints.
