Lymphovenous Bypass Procedure Before Underarm Lymph Node Surgery in Preventing Lymphedema in Patients With Inflammatory or Locally Advanced Non-inflammatory Breast Cancer

This pilot trial studies whether a procedure called lymphovenous bypass would prevent lymphedema (arm swelling) in patients with inflammatory breast cancer or non-inflammatory breast cancer that has spread to nearby tissues or lymph nodes. The lymphovenous bypass procedure creates a path for lymphatic fluid to flow away from the arms. It is usually done after a diagnosis of lymphedema. In this study, giving lymphovenous bypass before underarm lymph node surgery may help prevent lymphedema from forming.

Atorvastatin in Treating Patients With Stage IIb-III Triple Negative Breast Cancer Who Did Not Achieve a Pathologic Complete Response After Receiving Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy

This phase II trial studies how well atorvastatin works in treating patients with stages IIb-III triple negative breast cancer who did not achieve a pathologic complete response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Pathologic complete response is the lack of all signs of cancer in tissue samples removed during surgery after upfront chemotherapy. Atorvastatin is used for the treatment of high cholesterol and may reduce the risk of triple negative breast cancer from coming back. Triple-negative breast cancer is a type of breast malignancy that is comprised of cancer cells that do not have estrogen receptors, progesterone receptors, or large amounts of HER2/neu protein. Patients with TNBC do not have established systemic therapies such as anti-estrogens or HER2-targeting agents to reduce recurrence after surgery, and residual cancer found at surgery is associated with higher relapse rate.

Carboplatin and Paclitaxel With or Without Panitumumab in Treating Patients With Invasive Triple Negative Breast Cancer

This randomized phase II trial studies how well carboplatin and paclitaxel with or without panitumumab work in treating patients with invasive triple negative breast cancer. Drugs used in the chemotherapy, such as carboplatin and paclitaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping the them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Monoclonal antibodies, such as panitumumab, may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Giving carboplatin and paclitaxel with or without panitumumab before surgery may make the tumor smaller and reduce the amount of normal tissue that needs to be removed.

Olaparib and Radiotherapy in Inoperable Breast Cancer

The majority of breast cancer patients receive radiotherapy as part of their treatment. Radiotherapy improves both locoregional control and overall survival. In most patients with breast cancer the locoregional recurrence rate (LRR) is low, however still high LRRs are found in certain patient groups, especially in locally advanced, inflammatory and triple negative breast cancer. Olaparib is a potent PARP inhibitor developed as an anti-cancer drug for homologous recombination (HR) defected tumors and as a dose intensifier for chemo- and radiotherapy. The combination of olaparib and radiotherapy is expected to improve locoregional control and thereby overall survival in both breast cancer patients with a high probability of locoregional recurrence and patients with HR deficient tumors. However, this combination treatment has never been tested in humans before. The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and tolerability of radiotherapy to the breast and regional lymph nodes with concurrent olaparib.

Pilot Study of Zirconium-89 Bevacizumab Positron Emission Tomography for Imaging Angiogenesis in Patients With Inflammatory Breast Carcinoma Receiving Preoperative Chemotherapy

This research study is a pilot study, which tests the ability of an investigational compound to be used in humans for further studies. "Investigational" means that 89Zr-bevacizumab for PET/CT imaging is being studied. It also means that the FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) has not approved 89Zr-bevacizumab for PET/CT imaging for use in patients, including people with your type of cancer. 89Zr-bevacizumab is a newly developed radiotracer. Radiotracers are compounds or drugs that are attached to small amounts of a radioactive substance. The amount of the compound or drug in a radiotracer is also very small. Radiotracers are used to make images of processes that are happening in the body, but they do not affect how the body works. 89Zr-bevacizumab is made up of the drug bevacizumab and the radioactive substance zirconium-89 (89Zr). 89Zr-bevacizumab is used for an imaging procedure called positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT). This radiotracer has been used in other research studies. Information from those other research studies suggests that 89Zr-bevacizumab-PET/CT imaging may be able to measure new blood vessel formation to determine where the cancer is in your body and if your cancer is being killed by chemotherapy.

Pertuzumab, Trastuzumab, and Paclitaxel Albumin-Stabilized Nanoparticle Formulation in Treating Patients With HER2-Positive Advanced Breast Cancer

This phase II trial studies how well pertuzumab, trastuzumab, and paclitaxel albumin-stabilized nanoparticle formulation work in treating patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor (HER) 2-positive stage II-IV breast cancer. Monoclonal antibodies, such as pertuzumab and trastuzumab, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Others find tumor cells and help kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel albumin-stabilized nanoparticle formulation, work in different ways to kill tumor cells or stop them from growing. Giving pertuzumab and trastuzumab together with paclitaxel albumin-stabilized nanoparticle formulation may be a better way to block tumor growth.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate a novel neoadjuvant regimen for invasive breast carcinoma by using the MD Anderson residual cancer burden score.To prospectively evaluate the utility of the PET scan to guide the neoadjuvant treatment and the utility of the Oncotype test as a stratifier for treatment decisons in ER+/Her2- patients. To evaluate the clinical anti-tumor activity of neoadjuvant hormonal therapy in ER+/Her2 negative patients.
