NCT ID: NCT05843526 Completed - Dental Implants Clinical Trials

Influence of Implant Component Materials on Peri-implant Soft Tissue Horst Response.

PISTI
Start date: May 1, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this study was to characterize the host-related response of peri-implant soft tissue induced by 3 different materials: titanium, resin and PEEK (polyetheretherketone) on man. The primary endpoint is to asses the histological data available: Histological analyses are carried out with immunohistology (CD68, CD3, CD20, macrophages), non decalcified histology to appreciate the structure of the peri implant soft tissues (Sulcus depth, junctional epithelium, connective tissue adhesion). Moreover: scanning electronic microscope (SEM) of the experimental abutment is performed to juge the cell adhesion on the abutment surface. The secondary endpoint is to assess clinical data, radiological bone remodeling regarding the different material. The hypothesis is that resin abutment lead to more inflammation than PEEK or titanium.

NCT ID: NCT04283773 Completed - Ovarian Neoplasms Clinical Trials

Immunohistochemical Evaluation of Protein P16 Expression in Ovarian Germ Cell Tumors.

Start date: December 24, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Ovarian germ cell tumors (OGCTs) constitute 10% of ovarian tumors in Egypt and mainly affect young females. Teratomas are the most common type. Most of teratomas is benign. However, it is liable for malignant transformation. Others are malignant including dysgerminoma, immature teratoma, yolk sac tumor,.etc and accounts 1-1.5% of cancers in young females. The pathogenesis of OGCTs is not clearly understood. P16 is a member of cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) inhibitors. It arrests the cell cycle in G1 phase, so it is known as a tumor suppressor protein.P16 immunohistochemical(IHC) expression has been widely investigated in different cancers. Its IHC expression is either absent or overexpressed. Overexpression of p16 is documented in Human Papilloma Virus related endocervical neoplasms and High grade squamous intraepithelial lesions of the vulvovaginal region.Absence of p16 expression is detected in multiple cancers such as Lung cancer, colorectal cancer and lymphoma. P16 IHC expression in OGCTs is poorly investigated. One study suggests that absent p16 is involved in proliferation of malignant OGCTs via molecular assessment.Another study suggested that decrease P16 is involved in malignant transformation of Mature cystic teratoma to squamous cell carcinoma. However, Previous studies are still limited and recommended further studies to confirm its results. As the role of altered P16 protein in OGCTs is not widely investigated, we hypothesized that abnormal P16 expression may be involved in its pathogenesis and germ stem cell proliferation. This will give more information about molecular pathways of germ stem cell proliferation to give a hope for CDK inhibitors as novel target therapies in the management of OGCTs.

NCT ID: NCT02978131 Completed - Tuberculosis Clinical Trials

Histopathological Techniques and PCR on Tissues Included in Paraffin for the Diagnosis of Tuberculosis

Start date: May 2015
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major public health problem nowadays. About 30% of the world population is infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. There is an increase in the number of cases of classic tuberculosis in developing countries, even if number of cases are declining in developed countries. However, in developed countries this decrease is counterbalanced by the emergence of multidrug resistant (MDR) strains of the bacteria. There are also latent forms (1/3 of the world population) of the infection that can be reactivated in one case out of ten. Each year, about 2 million people die of tuberculosis and 9 million new cases are identified, including about 500,000 cases of MDR TB. The spread of this disease as well as the increasing number of cases of MDR tuberculosis, reinforce the need for research and development of strategies of diagnosis and management of this affection. Nowadays, the culture is the gold standard for the TB diagnosis but this technique needs at least three weeks to be performed. The objective of this study is to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of histopathological and molecular techniques (PCR) on paraformaldehyde fixed and embedded in paraffin tissues for a faster diagnosis of tuberculosis in current practice, in order to administrate an efficient treatment as soon as possible.
