Increasing Measles Vaccination Coverage Through Supplementation With an SQ-LNS Incentive in Children Aged 6-23 Months

Start date: May 1, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Provision of SQ-LNS also holds promise in incentivizing vaccination as well as other health services. The investigators will estimate 1) the effectiveness of a SQ-LNS mass supplementation program added to routine immunization program compared to routine immunization program alone in terms of measles vaccine coverage, after 12 months of program implementation, 1) in children aged 12-23 months in the end line cross-sectional household survey, 2) in children aged 6-12 months at inclusion, in a longitudinal 12 months follow-up survey. Secondary objectives are to assess the barriers and facilitators from the perspectives of parents/legal guardian of children, health care providers and community health workers and to assess the cost-efficiency of the This study will be implemented in 20 wards covering the Karasuwa and Nguru Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Yobe state, Northeast Nigeria. This is a pragmatic parallel cluster randomized trial (PCT) with baseline measure with different populations and data collection modes: 1) baseline and end line cross-sectional household surveys of children aged 12-23 months, 2) a longitudinal follow-up survey (LS) of children aged 6-12 months at inclusion, 3) a qualitative feasibility and acceptability survey of parents of children aged 6-23 months, of health providers, of community health workers and community representatives and 4) a cost survey of parents/legal guardian of children from the longitudinal follow-up cohort, and 5) a health facility cost survey of a randomized subsample of health facilities. Clusters will be randomly allocated at a ratio of 1:1 either to the standard arm or to the NutriVax arm: - The standard Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) in children aged 6-23 months delivered according to the Ministry of Health's routine plans in the community and at health centres and health posts, named the standard EPI arm; - The NutriVax program combining the EPI in children aged 6-23 months according to the Ministry of Health's routine plans in the community and at health centres (i.e. PHCCs) and health posts associated with SQ-LNS mass supplementation integrated into pre-existing services delivered at health centres (i.e. PHCCs) for children 6-23 months of age, named the NutriVax arm.

NCT ID: NCT06000397 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Pneumococcal Vaccines

Reminder Emails to Improve Pneumococcal Vaccine Completion at 12 Months of Age

Start date: November 7, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this clinical trial is to assess the effectiveness of enhanced email reminders in improving vaccine coverage at the 12-month visit in CANImmunize app users. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Do enhanced email reminders improve coverage of the 12- month dose of the pneumococcal vaccine and the timely completion of its immunization series at the 12-month's visit in CANImmunize app users? - What are the predictors of predictors of timely completion of the 12-month's series of pneumococcal vaccines in the CANImmunize app users? Participants will be randomized to either receive enhanced reminder/recall materials via email or the standard CANImmunize notifications. Researchers will compare the enhanced reminder group to the standard notification group to see if there is a difference in vaccine coverage at the 12-month visit.

NCT ID: NCT05505760 Recruiting - Breastfeeding Clinical Trials

Testing Content Delivery Models for MomConnect

MQR
Start date: May 30, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The case for mobile health (mHealth) has been gaining traction as a source to improve health outcomes of individuals. mHealth refers to the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to support health care. The ubiquity and penetration of mobile phones presents the opportunity to deliver health care services directly to citizens, with the greatest potential gains in under-resourced health ecosystems. Operating for 8 years and currently supporting 1.28 million mothers through their pregnancies and early childhood care, MomConnect represents one of the largest maternal health messaging platforms in the world. Implemented at the national level, MomConnect has been credited with being the first national-scale mHealth program of its kind and has won numerous international awards. As a WhatsApp-delivered service, MomConnect has been limited by WhatsApp's historical terms of service. In its current form, MomConnect can only start a conversation with mothers once a week by alerting them of their upcoming antenatal care (ANC) appointment. Recent changes to WhatsApp's terms of service have removed the restriction around push messages for certain programs, including MomConnect. Messages have historically been restricted to weekly conversation starters and carry only generic administrative reminder-style information. As a result, it is possible that many mothers are failing to engage with the content as much as they could. If mothers were more engaged, it could greatly increase exposure and knowledge of reducing the total number of mothers exposed to critical maternal and infant health content. With the updated terms of service, there is an opportunity to test different ways of engaging mothers. This study proposes to evaluate, through a randomized controlled trial (RCT), the relative effect of three new behaviorally-informed program models on key knowledge of and adoption of healthy behaviors.

NCT ID: NCT04086628 Recruiting - Asthma in Children Clinical Trials

Influenza Vaccine in Children With Asthma

VAGA
Start date: November 4, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The occurence of influenza can be a factor of imbalance of asthma. Asthma patients are recommended for annual influenza vaccination . However there is insufficient vaccination coverage of asthmatic patients despite this recommendation. The aim of this study is to evaluate the rate of influenza vaccination coverage of children with asthma aged from 6 month to 17 years of age followed in pediatric pneumology consultation at the university hospital of Nancy.

NCT ID: NCT03797950 Completed - Clinical trials for Immunization Coverage

Mobile Nudges to Increase Early Vaccination Coverage in Rural Areas

GEVaP
Start date: November 1, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Despite major progress made in vaccination coverage overall, timeliness of vaccines remains a key concern in many settings. At the same time, access to mobile phones has increased rapidly, offering new opportunities to track and deliver health services. This research project uses these newly available mobile phone networks to simultaneously address two of the biggest bottlenecks in vaccine delivery: timely documentation of births, and lack of maternal effort or access to get essential vaccines. To increase documentation, investigators will train volunteers in each community to report new births via mobile phone to a central coordinator, and send small monetary rewards via mobile phone to volunteers for this reporting. To increase vaccination coverage, investigators will send reminder messages directly to mothers, and will also test small monetary rewards to volunteers and to mothers as an incentive to complete recommended vaccinations. The designs to provide vaccination encouragement will be tested through a small community randomized controlled trial in 15 selected villages in Ghana's Northern region. The primary outcome for the pilot study will be the percentage of children who received both the polio birth dose (OPV0) vaccination within two weeks of life (14 days) and the BCG vaccination within the first four weeks (28 days) of life.
