Filter by:Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis (RRP) causes wart-like growths in the airway which can make it difficult to breathe, speak and carry out normal everyday activities. It is a rare condition affecting all ages, but is more common and aggressive in children than in adults, affecting 4 in every 100,000 children. There is no known cure for RRP, but symptoms are checked through regular hospital visits, with multiple therapies or procedures under general anaesthetic needed to remove or shrink the growths which can grow back quickly. The problem is that nobody knows which therapies or procedures work best. Aim: To identify which RRP treatments currently used in National Health Service (NHS) hospitals within the United Kingdom (UK) are the most effective and safest in the short- and long-term. It will also identify which patients respond best to specific treatments, and those who are at higher risk of experiencing a complication after treatment. Method: Collect information from usual patient care and quality of life questionnaire responses in a secure online database. Participation in this study requires patient/parent/guardian consent. This observational study does not require patients to undergo any additional intervention as part of the research.
Human papillomavirus(HPV) infect epithelial cells and have the capacity to stimulate cell abnormal hyperplasia, especially by those high-risk HPV types. HPV vaccine primarily targeting HPV6/11/16/18 has been available and makes it possible to prevent cervical cancer. However, a large population was left unvaccinated, specifically for those aged ones. In clinic, patients harboring high-risk HPV is quite prevalent in China or other developing nations. Removing the virus and prevention of malignant transformation is required. Mild local Hyperthermia with a certain temperature range has been successfully used in the treatment of some diseases. It has been utilised in the treatment of some neoplasm, fungal and HPV infections. Investigators' study found that local hyperthermia at 44°C could cleared HPV in more than half of the patients with plantar warts. Investigators also note the fact that in patients with multiple lesions, the clearance of the target lesion is commonly followed by clearance of other distant lesions, a phenomenon suggesting that local hyperthermia could aid in establishing a specific immune response to eliminate HPV.So the purpose of the study is to evaluation local hyperthermia in the treatment of cervical intraepithelial neoplasias grade I and II after 3 months, with positive high-risk type HPVs, and patients with positive testing for high risk HPVs. Appropriate control arms were designed for different conditions.
Background: In the United States, each year there are more than 30,000 cases of human papillomavirus (HPV) associated cancers. Some of these cancers are often incurable and are not improved by standard therapies. Researchers want to see if a new drug M7824, which targets and blocks a pathway that prevents the immune system from effectively fighting the cancer can shrink tumors in people with some HPV cancers. Objectives: To see if the drug M7824 causes tumors to shrink. Eligibility: Adults age 18 and older who have a cancer associated with HPV infection. Design: Participants will be screened with medical history and physical exam. They will review their symptoms and how they perform normal activities. They will have body scans. They will give blood and urine samples. They will have a sample of their tumor tissue taken if one is not available. Participants will have an electrocardiogram to evaluate their heart. Then they will get the study drug through a thin tube in an arm vein. Participants will get the drug every 2 weeks for 26 times (1 year). This is 1 course. After the course, participants will be monitored but will not take the study drug. If their condition gets worse, they will start another course with the drug. This process can be repeated as many times as needed. Treatment will stop if the participant has bad side effects or the drug stops working. Throughout the study, participants will repeat some or all the screening tests. After participants stop taking the drug, they will have a follow-up visit and repeat some screening tests. They will get periodic follow-up phone calls.

The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is well established as the primary causative agent in both warts and cervical cancer. Although cervical high risk HPV (hrHPV) infections have a high rate of spontaneous resolution this takes time and the infection can cause cervical cells to progress to precancerous and cancerous lesions. Zinc has been shown to play a central role in immunity. This study is to determine if oral zinc sulfate can improve clearance rates of high risk HPV versus placebo.

The project aims to increase HPV vaccination and cervical cancer screening through a web-based mobile health education program called, Wheel of Wellness (WoW) and a brief negotiated interview (BNI). The in-person BNI and WoW system will provide educational resources for participants and their families to learn more about HPV vaccination and cervical cancer screening.
The purpose of this research is to assess the safety and effectiveness of circumferential radiofrequency ablation (RFA) to the anal canal using the BarrxTM Ablation System to destroy anal high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSIL). The BarrxTM Ablation System used in this study comprises an RFA generator (Barrx™ FLEX) and the BarrxTM Anorectal Wand. The generator and wand are cleared by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for human use and the wand is specifically cleared for treatment of anal intraepithelial neoplasia (AIN). AIN is a precancerous condition. HSIL is an advanced form of AIN. The presence of HSIL has traditionally warranted treatment. RFA has been shown in many studies to effectively and safely destroy precancerous cells in a condition called Barrett's esophagus, which is a precancerous condition of the esophagus (the swallowing tube). Recent studies have shown that RFA may offer the same benefits for those with HSIL in the anal canal. In particular, ablation of the entire circumference of the canal seems to reduce recurrence of HSIL in other locations of the anal canal. This study will last between 12 to 15 months. Subjects will be required to undergo 5 to 8 study visits as outlined below that are carried out by the study doctors or the physician assistant. Most visits will last approximately one hour. Some may be shorter and some may be longer. Up to seventy (70) volunteers will participate in this study at several locations.
This study evaluates the use of topical ABI-1968 cream, in the treatment of cervical precancerous lesions in adult women.
The primary research aim of this project is to test the effectiveness of a comprehensive, evidence-based vaccine promotion toolkit implemented in the pediatric healthcare setting on increasing the likelihood that adolescents in Georgia will initiate and complete the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine series. Secondary research aims include assessing the impact of the comprehensive toolkit on 1) patient and parent knowledge and attitudes regarding HPV vaccine, and 2) provider recommendation of HPV vaccine for males and females in the recommended age range (11-12 years). The intervention toolkit will include evidence-based components aimed at the practice-level, provider-level and parent-level that will be tested through a cluster-randomized trial design. The primary hypothesis is that implementation of the comprehensive vaccine promotion toolkit in the pediatric health care setting will increase the likelihood that an adolescent receives initiates HPV vaccination. At the initial visit, parents of adolescent patients at participating pediatric practices will complete a brief questionnaire assessing their knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs about adolescent health, including protection against infectious diseases during adolescence. The parents will be contacted again three months later to complete a short follow-up interview on the general health of their adolescent child, immunization status, and attitudes regarding vaccination.
