The goal of this observational study is to compare the differences in the features of cerebral multifrequency EIT(cMFEIT) images between healthy subjects and patients with brain diseases and to explore the possibility of applying multifrequency EIT to intracranial abnormality detection.16 healthy volunteers and 8 patients with brain diseases were recruited as experimental subjects, and the cerebral EIT data of 9 frequencies in the range of 21 kHz - 100 kHz of all subjects were acquired with an EH-300 MFEIT system.

Effect and Safety of Surgical Intervention for Severe Spontaneous Intracerebral Hemorrhage Patients on Long-term Oral Antiplatelet Treatment

Background: Despite the capability of emergency surgery to reduce the mortality of severe spontaneous intracranial hemorrhage (SSICH) patients, the effect and safety of surgical treatment for severe spontaneous intracranial hemorrhage (SSICH) patients receiving long-term oral antiplatelet treatment (LOAPT) remains unclear. In consideration of this, the cohort study is aimed at figuring out the effect and safety of emergency surgery for SSICH patients on LOAPT. Methods: As a multicenter and prospective cohort study, it will be conducted across 7 representative clinical centers. Starting in September 2019, the observation is scheduled to be completed by December 2022, with a total of 450 SSIC H patients recruited. The information on clinical, radiological, and laboratory practices will be recorded objectively. All of the patients will be monitored until death or 6 months after the occurrence of primary hemorrhage. Results: In this study, two comparative cohorts and an observational cohort will be set up. The primary outcome is the effect of emergency surgery, which is subject to assessment using the total mortality and comparison in the survival rate of SSICH patients on LOAPT between surgical treatment and conservative treatment. The second outcome is the safety of surgery, with the postoperative hemorrhagic complication which is compared between the operated SSICH patients on and not on LOAPT. Based on the observation of the characteristics and outcome of SSICH patients on LOAPT, the ischemic events after discontinuing LOAPT will be further addressed, and the coagulation function assessment system for operated SSICH patients on LOAPT will be established. Conclusions: In this study, we will investigate the effect and safety of emergency surgery for SSICH patients on LOAPT, which will provide an evidence for management in the future.

Tranexamic Acid in Patients for Caesarian Delivery.

This is a prospective, double-blinded, randomized placebo-controlled trial. The study will be approved by the DUHS institutional review board (IRB) and the trial will be registered at clinical trial registry. After receiving the trial information from the obstetricians during prenatal visits or from the anaesthetists during the systematic anaesthesia visit, or both the prospective women will be invited to participate in the trial. The intervention consists of administration of 1gm of tranexemic acid (TXA) or 10-mls of placebo (normal saline) intravenously, according to the randomization groups slowly over 30-60 sec, within 3 mins of the delivery of baby, after the routine prophylactic uterotonic administration and cord clamping. Administration of the prophylactic uterotonic agent (and TXA or placebo) may be followed by a two-hour oxytocin infusion, in accordance with the hospital policy. All women will be followed up at 48 hours after caeserian delivery. A venous blood sample will be obtained on day-two (D2) after delivery for outcome assessment. Adverse events will be assessed until hospital discharge and by telephone interview at 8 weeks after delivery.

Tractional retinal detachment (TRD) that involves the macula and non-clearing vitreous hemorrhage are the main causes of permanent vision loss in patients with diabetic retinopathy and requires prompt surgical intervention. Macular peeling is a surgical technique used in many retinal diseases including diabetic retinal detachment. Our purpose is to determine whether retinal microcirculatory changes occur after anatomically successful diabetic vitrectomy, and whether changes in blood flow vary if ILM peeling was done and whether changes in macular perfusion affect the final visual outcome. The aim of this study is to non-invasively evaluate, with optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-A), the anatomical changes of deep and superficial vascular density in the macula with and without macular peeling in diabetic vitrectomy.

The goal of this multicentric observational study was to compare four vitamin K dosing regimens in exclusively breastfed healthy term newborns. The main questions it aims to answer were: - comparing protein induced by vitamin K absence (PIVKA) levels in the different prophylaxis protocols at 48 hours, 1 month and 4 months - to investigate the compliance and safety of oral vitamin K 1 administration Participants received vitamin K prophilaxis according to birth Hospital regimen. A blood sample was taken at 48 hours, 1 month and 3 months of life. Plasmatic PIVKA-II concentretion was be dosed Researchers compared four groups of Vitamin K dosing regimens: 1. an intramuscolar injection of 1 mg vitamin K at birth 2. an intramuscolar injection of 1 mg vitamin K at birth followed by 50 μg/die orally from the second to the fourteenth week of life. 3. an intramuscolar injection of 1 mg vitamin K at birth followed by 150 μg/die orally from the second to the fourteenth week of life. 4. an oral dose of 2 mg vitamin K at birth, followed by a second dose at 4 weeks, and a third dose at 12 weeks to see if there is PIVKA-II plasmatic concentration differences.

Maxillary Vascular Canal Thickness and Sinus Augmentation Bleeding

This study aims to evaluate the relationship between the maxillary intra-osseous vascular canal thickness as measured by volumetric tomography and the amount of intra-operative bleeding during open sinus floor augmentation. A sample of patients will be selected, and their maxillary intra-osseous vascular canal thickness will be measured using volumetric tomography. Intraoperative bleeding will be recorded during open sinus floor augmentation. The data will be analyzed to determine if there is a correlation between the thickness of the maxillary intra-osseous vascular canal and intraoperative bleeding.

This prospective randomised controlled trial will be conducted to investigate that increasing the vitrectomy cutting rate from 10,000 cut/min to 20,000 cut/min will result more efficiency and shorter core vitrectomy time, and it is equally safe as compared to the current 10,000 cut/min. We plan to target the patients undergoing for vitrectomy for common vitreoretinal pathology. Our plan is to conduct a randomised study with 2 arms, one with the higher cutting rate (20,000 cut/min) versus a second arm using the existing system 10,000 cuts/min.

Topical Effect of Tranexamic Acid in Postoperative Bleeding and Blood Products Transfusion After Cardiac Surgery

This is a single-center, double-blind, randomized controlled trial (RCT) comparing two groups of application of topical dose of tranexamic acid (TxA) versus placebo in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft (CABG), off pump coronary bypass graft cardiac surgery (OPCAB), and adult heart valve surgery. The primary outcomes of this study comprised of two parameters; post operative bleeding and blood product transfusion. The primary outcomes were assessed during the operation, until 48-hour post operative.
