Filter by:Lavage fluid (BAL) is inserted into a lung lobe using a flexible bronchoscope. The fluid is aspirated out to remove any remaining TI. It's performed twice at specific time points in 12 healthy volunteers. BAL fluid will be analyzed for insulin and FDKP.
This study will assess the mass balance, metabolic disposition, and identification of metabolites following single oral administration of [14C]-SKI-606 in healthy male subjects.
The specific aim of this study is to determine whether oral citrulline administration enhances whole body protein synthesis in healthy humans in the postabsorptive state. Protein metabolism will be assessed using an intravenous infusion of stable isotope labeled leucine. The investigators hypothesize that citrulline supplementation will decrease leucine oxidation without altering proteolysis, and consequently stimulate protein synthesis .
Single usage, open label study in 16 adult healthy males. Eligible subjects will receive a single usage of the investigational device. Retention of the radiolabeled device will be monitored using gamma scintigraphy.
This study is to determine the effect of single and multiple oral doses of mifepristone on the pharmacokinetics of a single oral dose of fluvastatin administered to healthy volunteers.
Human Multidrug Related Protein 2 (MRP2) excretes several drugs and could therefore modulate their elimination. Individual's MRP2 activity is under genetic control. Thus it would be very useful to get an easily measurable biomarker reflecting individual's MRP2 activity. We aimed to investigate the ratio of urinary coproporphyrins I and III (UCP(I/I+III), known to be increased in patients with mutations in MRP2/ABCC2 gene.
Since Tai Chi Chuan (TCC) training has been shown to be beneficial to the cardiopulmonary function of the subject, TCC might have a beneficial effect on the pulmonary function, autonomic nervous modulation, lipid profile, and cytokines production in the aged subjects.
The primary objective of this pilot study is to establish a model of neutrophil airway inflammation for future testing of anti-inflammatory substances in an early stage of clinical development. Moreover, the suitability of an electronic nose for early detection and diagnosis of airway inflammation will be determined.
Vitamin D deficiency (low levels of vitamin D in the blood) is a common problem. A recently discovered protein, called hCAP18, likely plays an important role in the immune system and may depend on adequate levels of vitamin D. It is not known what levels of vitamin D are needed to allow the body to make this protein. Nor is it known if giving vitamin D to people who are found to be deficient will help boost levels of hCAP18. This study aims to clarify the relationship between vitamin D levels and hCAP18.
This is a single ascending dose study of HSD-016 to provide the initial assessment of the safety, tolerability, how the drug is absorbed and eliminated, and it's effect on the body in Japanese male subjects.
