Filter by:Seattle Children's Hospital (SCH), in collaboration with several health plans and Washington State Department of Social and Health Services developed the Comprehensive Case Management (CCM) program with the goal to reduce costs of care for medically complex children cared for at SCH as well as improve their health status and the quality of care they receive. The CCM program aims to develop and facilitate a reliable and standardized process that empowers the child's primary care provider and provides him/her with the resources s/he needs to avoid unnecessary emergency department visits and admissions. Our study will include children who had a hospitalization or emergency department visit at Seattle Children's between 2009-2012 and, at that time, had multiple active chronic medical issues but had no specialty service at Seattle Children's to help their primary care providers manage them.
Pharmacology of Exenatide in Pediatric Sepsis, PEPS is a phase 1-2 research study that will examine drug safety, drug metabolism, drug action and preliminary drug clinical effects of four does of exenatide injected every 12 hours to children with shock from infection (septic shock). The investigators hypothesize that exenatide can be safely dosed to children with sepsis to achieve blood levels of drug similar to that achieved in teenagers with type 2 diabetes. The investigators further hypothesize that injection of exenatide to children with septic shock will normalize blood glucose levels and decrease levels of inflammation proteins in the blood during the early course of sepsis.

The purpose of this randomized controlled trial is to evaluate the effectiveness of an exercised-based programme developed for older people admitted at a geriatric outpatient clinic and to see if a home-exercise program enhances the effect. The outcomes considered is health-related quality of life, balance-self confidence, balance and mobility.

For the growing number of severely obese individuals, there are currently few effective long-term weight control options with the exception of bariatric surgery. However, behavioral factors including low physical activity can undermine successful surgical outcomes. This study will compare the effects of a behavioral physical activity intervention with a standard care control condition on changes in physical activity among inactive adult bariatric surgery patients.
The purpose of this study is to compare two exercise programs to determine how well they help older adults make exercise a regular habit after 9 months.
