View clinical trials related to Head and Neck Cancer.
Filter by:The objectives for this study is as follows: - Primary: - To evaluate the progression-free survival of locoregionally advanced (stages III/IV) SCCHN patients undergoing postoperative chemoradiotherapy with panitumumab. - Secondary: - To evaluate the overall survival, event-free survival, and toxicities. - To correlate efficacy parameters with 1) EGFR and downstream pathway activation, 2) FcyR polymorphisms, and 3) serum cytokine profiles. More specifically, the aim is to demonstrate the usefulness of biomarkers (downstream signaling molecules, FcyR polymorphisms, or tumor and serum cytokine(s) in predicting progression-free survival in patients with SCCHN treated with the above treatment. Specific biomarkers that relate to Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor and angiogenesis, including EGFR, pEGFR, Src, pMAPK, pSTAT3, pSTAT5, pSTAT1, pAKT, p38, p21, p27, PARP, E-cadherin, p-ErbB3, Ki67, VEGF, and IL-8, using reverse phase protein microarrays (RPPA) will be tested in baseline archival paraffin-embedded tumor tissue. To collect tumor tissue from pretreatment biopsies for cytokine/chemokine and immune biomarker studies on tumor tissue. We plan to investigate the expression of pAKT, pMAPK, and other EGFR pathway-related markers as well angiogenesis biomarkers. In addition, EGFR polymorphisms will be studied in tumor tissue samples and serum. Additional studies may be performed in the future. Some of these studies may be performed by Amgen.
This multicenter, open-label, uncontrolled phase II trial evaluates safety and efficacy of post-operative chemoradiation in combination with cetuximab in squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck.
RATIONALE: Varenicline, the nicotine patch, and nicotine gum help people stop smoking. It is not yet known whether varenicline is more effective than the nicotine patch given together with nicotine gum in helping smokers quit smoking. PURPOSE: This randomized clinical trial is studying varenicline to see how well it works compared with the nicotine patch given together with nicotine gum in helping smokers in a methadone treatment program stop smoking.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of SBG vs placebo on oral mucositis in head and neck cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy.
The central hypothesis to be tested in this study is that dual blockade of EGFR and Src pathways or proteins are distinct compared to inhibition of either kinase alone in head and neck and lung cancers.
RATIONALE: Patient abstract not available PURPOSE: Patient abstract not available
RATIONALE: It is not yet known which regimen of enteral nutrition is more effective in preventing infections in patients undergoing surgery for cancer of the upper aerodigestive tract. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is comparing three nutrition regimens in treating patients with cancer of the upper aerodigestive tract.
A Phase II Trial With Radiotherapy Plus Cetuximab to Evaluate Specific Survival Free of Laryngectomy in Patients With Resectable and Locally Advanced Larynx Cancer, After Treatment With TPF Chemotherapy.
RATIONALE: Diagnostic procedures, such as 3'-deoxy-3'-[18F] fluorothymidine (FLT) and fludeoxyglucose F 18 (FDG) PET scans, may help doctors predict a patient's response to treatment and help plan the best treatment. PURPOSE: This pilot trial is studying FLT and FDG PET scans to see how well they evaluate response to cetuximab, cisplatin, and radiation therapy in patients with advanced cancer of the oropharynx, larynx, or hypopharynx.
Oral Mucositis (OM) is a painful and debilitating side effect of many of the drug or radiation regiments used to treat cancer. This study examines the investigational drug SCV-07 and it's possible application in treating Oral Mucositis. Studies have shown that SCV-07 can possibly increase a broad immune system response, thus lowering the painful side effects experienced when treated for head and neck cancer. The purpose of this study is to assess the safety and tolerability of SCV-07 and it's ability to delay the onset of Oral Mucositis for patients receiving chemoradiation for head and neck cancer.
