Filter by:Purpose: Characterize changes in intraocular pressure (IOP), IOP-lowering medications, and visual acuity (VA) through 3 years in patients undergoing combined phacoemulsification and excisional goniotomy with the Kahook Dual Blade (phaco-KDB), with simultaneous goniosynechialysis in cases of angle-closure glaucoma, by a single surgeon (A.H.) in King Fahd Hospital of the University, Dammam, Saudi Arabia. Methods: Prospective, non-comparative, uncontrolled, non-randomized interventional case series. Consecutive patients with medically-treated glaucoma and visually-significant cataract underwent combined surgery. Subgroup analysis of glaucoma subtypes was performed.
The purpose of this study is the investigation of biomechanical properties of the cornea using computer-aided data analysis. Currently, it is known that keratoconus and glaucoma are ocular disease that are associated with biomechanical alterations of the cornea. Corneal ectasia, especially keratoconus, is a corneal disease that leads to an irreversible loss of visual acuity while the cornea becomes steeper, thinner and irregular. For these patients, surgical intervention (e.g. corneal cross-linking) is performed, in case of disease progression. In glaucoma, the information about corneal alterations serves in two ways, first, correct measurement of intra ocular pressure (IOP); second, early diagnosis of suspects before visual field defects are detectable. Especially, the Corvis ST is an air-puff tonometer that measures intraocular pressure, corneal thickness (CCT) as well as dynamic corneal response (DCR) parameters. Most of the DCR parameters are affected by IOP and CCT: Therefore, algorithm are needed to determine parameters without impact of IOP and CCT that are describe the biomechanical properties of the cornea.
Randomized, controlled treatment with an intracanalicular dexamethasone (0.4mg) insert following cataract surgery with intraocular lens implant (IOL) combined with minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), specifically iStent, iStent inject or KDB in patients with primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) or ocular hypertension (OHTN)
To prospectively assess the clinical effect of ab-interno transluminal viscoelastic delivery and trabeculotomy performed with the OMNI Surgical System in pseudophakic eyes on intraocular pressure (IOP) and the use of IOP-lowering medications in patients with open angle glaucoma (OAG).
Elevated IOP is a key risk factor for the progression of glaucoma. IOP is subjected to diurnal fluctuation in healthy individuals and higher fluctuation in POAG . So, once-daily antiglaucoma drugs must have consistent efficacy throughout the day. Prostaglandin analogues (PGAs) have become the first-line drops for medical treatment of glaucoma worldwide. In our study, we compare between the efficacy and tolerability of Latanoprost 0.005%, Travoprost 0.004% and Tafluprost 0.0015% on diurnal IOP fluctuation in patients having POAG, IOP fluctuation was assessed before treatment , then 2 weeks and 6 weeks after. A comparable and significant reduction in IOP fluctuation occurred in the 3 groups. Side effects were mild and tolerable.
European Nutrition in Glaucoma Management (ENIGMA) trial will evaluate the effect of 18-month supplementation with lutein, zeaxanthin and meso-zeaxanthin on macular pigment (MP) levels, vision, cognition and serum biomarkers of inflammation and oxidative stress in glaucoma patients. This study comprises a randomised, placebo controlled and double masked clinical trial designed to establish MP response to supplementation with lutein, zeaxanthin and meso-zeaxanthin over an 18-month period. The study will also investigate the relationship between macular pigment, cognitive function, oxidative stress and inflammation, and determine the impact of dietary supplementation on vision, retinal structure, quality of life and cognitive function among glaucoma subjects.
1. The purpose of this study is to obtain genetic data on a well-defined population of patients with glaucoma that had accurate measurements of rates of structural and functional change over time. 2. The investigators aim to recruit 5,000 patients for Phase I and 100 patients for Phase II over a period of 2 years for obtaining blood samples which will be processed for extraction of DNA and genotyping. Phase II also includes eye examination. Patients will be selected from the Duke Glaucoma Registry (DGR) database and will be contacted by phone, mail or email using a standardized script and procedure. 3. Data analysis, based on patient-blind (no personal health information) data will take place at Duke and Genentech. No protected health information (PHI) will leave Duke. Standard statistical methods will be used to analyze the collected data and to develop predictive statistical models for fast progression in glaucoma. Risks from participating in the study are low and include loss of confidentiality and inherent issues related to drawing blood.
This prospective interventional single-arm trial evaluates measures changes in ocular surface disease parameters in eyes with mild to moderate open-angle glaucoma (OAG) on 1-4 glaucoma medications who undergo phacoemulsification and trabecular micro-bypass stent(s) implantation (iStent or iStent inject).
The purpose of this study is to evaluate efficacy and safety of CKD-351
The objective of this clinical study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of NCX 470 Ophthalmic Solution in lowering intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma. In the adaptive dose selection phase of the trial, subjects will be randomized in a 1:1:1 ratio to one of two doses of NCX 470 (0.065% or 0.1%) or to latanoprost 0.005%. Following the selection of one dose of NCX 470, subjects will be randomized in a 1:1 ratio to the chosen dose of NCX 470 or to latanoprost 0.005%.
