Filter by:The goal of this cohort study is to identify the lowest dose of Indocyanine Green (ICG) that achieves satisfactory intra-operative fluorescence for the assessment of gastrointestinal or genitourinary tract perfusion in children.
Study purpose: to explore the entire spectrum of proteomic and genomic changes (amongst others) involved in diseases and in healthy/control populations. The Study is designed to discover biomarkers, develop and validate diagnostic assays, instruments and therapeutics as well as other medical research. Specifically, researchers may analyze proteins, RNA, DNA copy number changes, including large and small (1,000-100,000 kb) scale rearrangements, transcription profiles, epigenetic modifications, sequence variation, and sequence in both diseased tissue and case-matched germline DNA from Subjects.
In this proposed pilot study, 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene sequencing will be used in the analysis of bacterial communities (microbiomes) in postmenopausal women with vulvovaginal atrophy (VVA) before and after eight weeks of vaginal estrogen use. The investigators plan to characterize the composition and dynamics of the microbiomes of the vagina, bladder, and rectum for quantitative and qualitative changes in the distribution of operational taxonomic units (OTUs) before and after eight weeks of local vaginal estrogen therapy. Although the vagina, bladder, and gut microbiomes have been increasingly independently studied, less is known about the interactions of the bacterial communities among the three environments as well as the dynamic relationship with menopausal status and vaginal estrogen therapy and the investigators seek to elucidate these relationships further.
The primary objective of the study is to clinically confirm, by comparison with a control group, the performance of the 10600 +1540 nm laser in the improvement of atrophic vaginal epithelium at 3 months after the last laser treatment. The secondary objectives are: 1. Confirm the performance of 10600 +1540 nm laser in the improvement of atrophic vaginal epithelium at 9 months post-laser treatment, and compare it with the results at 3 months. 2. Evaluate the improvement of the GSM urinary symptoms and urinary incontinence (UI) and their impact on the Quality of Life, at each timepoint after the first laser treatment. 3. To assess the Patient's Global Impression of Improvement (PGI) with the laser treatment - For the GSM symptoms - For the urinary symptoms and UI 4. To assess the patient's satisfaction with the laser treatment. - For the GSM symptoms - For the urinary symptoms and UI.
Caudal anesthesia is commonly employed in pediatrics to produce postoperative analgesia in low abdominal or urologic surgery. An exact understanding of the anatomy of the sacral area including sacral hiatus and surrounding structures is crucial to the success of caudal block. The aim of this study is to evaluate the anatomy of the caudal space in pediatrics by ultrasound evaluation.
The goal of this clinical research study is to learn if Sutent® (sunitinib malate, SU011248) can control the disease in patients with germ cell tumors that are resistant to earlier treatment.
