Fuzheng Nizeng Formula for Chronic Atrophic Gastritis With Low-grade Intraepithelial Neoplasia, a Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial

Start date: October 24, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Fuzheng Nizeng Formula (FZNZ) is derived from the classic formula Liujunzi Decoction. Former pilot study found that FZNZ promoted the recovery of gastric atrophy and relieve the relative symptoms. This study is to evaluate its efficacy for chronic atrophic gastritis with low-grade intraepithelial neoplasia, compared with positive control Molduodan granule.

NCT ID: NCT06203327 Recruiting - Atrophic Gastritis Clinical Trials

Atrophic Gastritis Predicts the Risk of Gastric Cancer

Start date: January 1, 2024
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Despite declining incidence rates, gastric cancer (GC) ranks the fourth leading cause of cancer-related mortality and the fifth most common cancer worldwide, with the highest incidence reported in Eastern Asia. The 5-year overall survival rate of early GC exceeds 90%, which was well above advanced GC. Most intestinal-type GCs follow the Correa cascade-inflammation,atrophy, intestinal metaplasia (IM), dysplasia and subsequent carcinoma. The presence of gastric mucosal atrophy and intestinal metaplasia are important risk factors for GC. The purpose of this study was to investigate the incidence of GC attributed to atrophic gastritis in a region with high incidence of GC.

NCT ID: NCT06152263 Recruiting - Clinical trials for EGC - Early Gastric Cancer

LCI in Chronic Atrophic Gastritis and Early Gastric Cancer

Start date: September 30, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Color change is a useful marker for the endoscopic identification of chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) and gastric cancer (GC). Several histopathological studies have suggested a correlation between certain gastrointestinal lesions and intramucosal vascularity. The aim of this study is to investigate the association between the color and mucosal microvascular density of CAG and early GC using linked color imaging (LCI). In this study, Lesions diagnosed as CAG and early GC will be observed using LCI. In each image, the color values of atrophic and non-atrophic mucosa, as well as cancerous and non-cancerous mucosa, will be quantified using the International Commission on Illumination 1976 (L∗, a∗, b∗) color space. Histological microvascular density in biopsy or resected specimens will be evaluated using CD31 immunostaining. Color differences at the atrophic border and cancerous border, defined as Euclidean distances of color values between the atrophic and non-atrophic mucosa, as well as cancerous and non-cancerous mucosa, will be calculated according to mucosal microvascular density.

NCT ID: NCT05916014 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Artificial Intelligence

AI-assisted White Light Endoscopy to Identify the Kimura-Takemoto Classification of Atrophic Gastritis

Start date: June 1, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Grading endoscopic atrophy according to the Kimura-Takemoto classification can assess the risk of gastric neoplasia development. However, the false negative rate of chronic atrophic gastritis is high due to the varying diagnostic standardization and diagnostic experience and levels of endoscopists. Therefore, this study aims to develop an AI model to identify the Kimura-Takemoto classification.

NCT ID: NCT05775120 Recruiting - Gastric Cancer Clinical Trials

Epidemiology of Helicobacter Pylori Infection in Moscow

Start date: July 1, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

H. pylori is transmitted from individual to individual and causes chronic active gastritis in all infected people. H. pylori infection can result in gastroduodenal ulcers, atrophic gastritis (AG), gastric carcinoma, and gastric MALT lymphoma. More than 90% of gastric carcinomas are linked to H. pylori infection that causes chronic AG. A long course of the disease leads to the loss of gastric glands (chronic AG) followed by gastric intestinal metaplasia (GIM), dysplasia, and cancer. This defines two cancer prevention strategies: primary that consists of detection and eradication of H. pylori and secondary that focuses on endoscopic screening for pre-neoplastic lesions and follow-up. Primary prevention planning requires reliable information on the H. pylori prevalence in the population. To design secondary prevention measures, an understanding of the age-sex structure of precancerous changes in the gastric mucosa (the prevalence of atrophic gastritis) is necessary. H. pylori eradication is the basis of primary prevention of gastric cancer (GC). Approximately 36,000 new cases of GC are registered in the Russian Federation each year, and more than 34,000 patients die from the disease. Men get sick 1.3 times more often than women, the peak incidence occurs at the age of over 50 years. The poor outcomes reflect the late stage of diagnosis of this potentially preventable and treatable cancer. The lack of up-to-date data on the H. pylori prevalence in Moscow hinders developing of measures for the detection and timely treatment of this infection as well as the reduction of GC morbidity and mortality.

NCT ID: NCT05744596 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Chronic; Gastritis, Atrophic

Assessment of the Role of Incisura Biopsy in the Staging of Chronic Gastritis

INCREASE
Start date: March 23, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This prospective multicenter study investigates the added benefit of incisura biopsy to correct identification of patients with high-risk chronic gastritis (OLGA stages III-IV). It compares a biopsy protocol with and without a single incisura biopsy in a non-inferiority design.

A total of 284 patients were included. The curative efficacy, symptom score and adverse events will be recorded and analyzed.

NCT ID: NCT05209633 Recruiting - Atrophic Gastritis Clinical Trials

Efficacy and Safety of Using Granules Dendrobii for the Treatment of Chronic Atrophic Gastritis

Start date: November 1, 2022
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) is a common and frequently-occurring disease, characterized by atrophy of gastric mucosal epithelium and glands, thinning of the mucosa, thickening of the submucosal muscle layer, intestinal metaplasia, and atypical hyperplasia. The course of the disease is protracted and often recurrent, which seriously affects the work and physical and mental health of the patient. Moreover, epidemiological studies have shown that the risk of gastric cancer in patients with chronic multifocal atrophic gastritis is significantly higher than that of the general population. Because CAG intestinal metaplasia and dysplasia can easily develop into gastric cancer, the World Health Organization (WHO) listed CAG's gastric mucosal atrophy, intestinal metaplasia and dysplasia as precancerous lesions of gastric cancer in 1978. Therefore, reversing and disappearing the precancerous state of gastric cancer is an effective measure to prevent the occurrence of gastric cancer. The cause of CAG is complicated. Modern medicine believes that CAG is closely related to biological factors, physical and chemical factors, immune factors, and genetic factors. At present, there is no specific treatment, but symptomatic treatment is the main treatment. The disease belongs to the categories of "stomach pain" and "suffocation" in traditional Chinese medicine. In many years of surveys and studies in Mainland China, it is found that Dendrobii granules have a good effect on chronic atrophic gastritis. It is planned to explore the possibility, effectiveness and safety of Dendrobii granules in the treatment of chronic atrophic gastritis through clinical trials. 20 subjects will be randomized into the treatment group and placebo group with 18 weeks of treatment.
