NCT ID: NCT05675592 Recruiting - Cystic Fibrosis Clinical Trials

Trikafta/Kaftrio and Pseudomonas Aeruginosa

Kaf-Pseudo
Start date: February 22, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The goal of this observational study o is to define whether, how and to what extent treatment with Trikafta/Kaftrio directly affects Pseudomonas aeruginosa in individuals with cystic fibrosis. The main questions it aims to answer are: - whether Trikafta/Kaftrio affects the bacterial phenotypes and susceptibility to antibiotics; - whether Trikafta/Kaftrio impacts the bacterial virulence. Participants will be asked the permission to store and analyze P. aeruginosa isolates collected from respiratory samples for usual care plans before the initiation of treatment with Trikafta/Kaftrio and after 12 and 18 months of treatment. The results of bacterial analysis will be matched with clinical data at the specific time-points. We expect to define effects of Trikafta/Kaftrio on P. aeruginosa and identify bacterial phenotypes as possible risk factors for its efficacy.

NCT ID: NCT05674994 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Acute Exacerbation of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis

Glucocorticoids Versus Placebo for the Treatment of Acute Exacerbation of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis

EXAFIP2
Start date: October 26, 2023
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Acute exacerbation of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (AE-IPF) is associated with a poor prognosis, with a 3-month mortality rate of over 50%. To date, no treatment has been proven to be effective in AI-FPI. The interest of glucocorticoids is controversial and needs to be confirmed. This confirmation is mandatory to validate the improvement of the prognosis of EA-IPF under this treatment but also to search for unsuspected deleterious effects as it has been shown with immunosuppressants in stable idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

NCT ID: NCT05674877 Completed - Liver Cirrhosis Clinical Trials

Opioid Sparing Anesthesia in Patients With Liver Cirrhosis Undergoing Liver Resection

Start date: December 1, 2022
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This randomized clinical trial will investigate the opioid sparing effect of dexmedetomidine and ketmine infusion in cirrhotic patients undergoing liver resection

NCT ID: NCT05672589 Recruiting - Liver Cirrhosis Clinical Trials

To Compare Relaxed Rotational Thromboelastometry Cut-offs With Standard Cut-offs for Guiding Blood Product Use Before Invasive Procedures in Cirrhosis and Acute on Chronic Liver Failure Patients

Start date: February 2, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Hypothesis Relaxed ROTEM cutoff guided blood product transfusion will result in less blood products use without increasing bleeding complications for invasive procedures in cirrhosis or acute on chronic liver failure (ACLF) patients AIM:- To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Relaxed threshold (as compared to conventional thresholds) for blood product transfusion for invasive procedures in cirrhosis or acute on chronic liver failure (ACLF) patients Objective - Primary objective: To compare the reduction in amount of total component transfused (ml/kg) in Relaxed Rotational Thromboelastometry based versus Conventional Rotational Thromboelastometry based transfusion strategy in cirrhosis or acute on chronic liver failure (ACLF) patients. Secondary objectives: To compare the amount of FFP (ml/kg) transfused in Relaxed Rotational Thromboelastometry cut off based versus Standard Rotational Thromboelastometry cut off based transfusion strategy in cirrhosis or acute on chronic liver failure (ACLF) patients. To compare the amount of Platelet (ml/kg) transfused in Relaxed Rotational Thromboelastometry based versus Conventional Rotational Thromboelastometry based transfusion strategy in cirrhosis or acute on chronic liver failure (ACLF) patients. To compare the amount of cryoprecipitate (ml/kg) transfused in Relaxed Rotational Thromboelastometry based versus Conventional Rotational Thromboelastometry based transfusion strategy in cirrhosis or acute on chronic liver failure (ACLF) patients. To compare the bleeding rate in Relaxed Rotational Thromboelastometry cut off based versus Conventional Rotational Thromboelastometry cut off based transfusion strategy in cirrhosis or acute on chronic liver failure (ACLF) patients. To compare the rate of transfusion reactions in Relaxed Rotational Thromboelastometry based versus Conventional Rotational Thromboelastometry based transfusion strategy in cirrhosis or acute on chronic liver failure (ACLF) patients. To compare the cost incurred in Relaxed Rotational Thromboelastometry based versus Conventional Rotational Thromboelastometry based transfusion strategy in cirrhosis or acute on chronic liver failure (ACLF) patients.

NCT ID: NCT05670587 Completed - Pulmonary Fibrosis Clinical Trials

A Study in People With Pulmonary Fibrosis to Monitor Cough With a Wearable Device

Start date: January 16, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study is open to adults aged 18 years and older who have pulmonary fibrosis with or without a known cause (or other forms of pulmonary fibrosis). The purpose of this study is to better understand coughing in people with pulmonary fibrosis. To do this, a wearable cough monitor called Strados Remote Electronic Stethoscope Platform (RESP) is used. This device will measure how often and how forceful coughing is in people with pulmonary fibrosis. All participants in the study get the device. It is placed on their skin over the chest. Participants are in the study for 3 months. During this time, they visit the study site 2 to 3 times. 4 visits are done at the participant's home by video call with the site staff. During the study, the device measures coughing over 24 hours. This is done on 4 days. Participants fill in questionnaires about their coughing and doctors regularly check participant's lung function. A breathing test that measures how well the lungs are working is performed both in the office and during home visits. The doctors also regularly check participants' health and take note of any unwanted effects. This study will also record patients' experiences using the cough monitor and video assisted breathing tests at visits 3, 4, 5 and 6 at home.
