Filter by:Family-based treatment (FBT), a form of family therapy for eating disorders (ED) in young patients, has proven to be effective in numerous large-scale studies. This study aims to evaluate outcomes of the treatment for anorexia nervosa (AN) in a 'real-world' setting in a specialized outpatient clinic in Helsinki, Finland. Fifty-two young female patients seen for treatment between June 2013 and December 2017 were included in the study. Demographic and treatment characteristics, weight, and ED symptoms before and after treatment are reported
The goal of this observational study is to assess mealtime anxiety in patients with eating disorders receiving treatment at an in-patient unit. Anxiety wil be assessed using ecological momentary assessment (EMA). The main research question is: • Does post meal activity reduce anxiety in patients with eating disorders? Study participation will last for two weeks. Participants will be reporting current levels of anxiety/distress on an EMA mobile app during treatment as usual. During one of the two study participation weeks, the participants will perform post mealtime activity.
This observational study aims to evaluate the psychometric properties of a new infant feeding tool called "SMART Tool" in the neonatal intensive care unit. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. To design a feeding tool to assess oral motor and neurobehavioral skills in neonates 2. To establish psychometrics of the new tool by doing reliability and validity tests.
The goal of this observational study is to explore if different and specific profiles can be identified in adults with binge eating disorder (BED) depending on their additional eating pathology, emotion regulation and executive functions. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Is there different and specific subgroups of patients with BED according to baseline profiles in emotion regulation, executive function and additional eating pathology (including restriction, chaotic eating, grazing and eating on external cues)? - Are subgroups of individuals with BED (based on identified profiles) associated with outcome at end of treatment and follow-up? - What is the trajectories in remission rates of specific symptom dimensions (eating disorder pathology, emotion regulation, executive function, and depressive symptoms) in individuals with BED and is there specific trajectory profiles in these dimensions? - Is early changes in specific symptom dimensions (eating pathology, emotion regulation, executive function, or depression) associated with outcome of BED? Participants will be asked to fill in questionnaires before treatment as usual, 10 weeks into treatment, at end of treatment and at 6- and 12-month follow-up.

The aim of the present study is to evaluate the prevalence of eating disorder among adolescents. Also, to evaluate psychiatric comorbidity, sleep problems, alexithymia and emotion dysregulation associated with patients had eating disorders. In addition, to identify possible risk factors associated with eating disorder among adolescents.
The primary goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate the unique neural and behavioral effects of a one-session training combining emotion regulation skills training, with excitatory repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) over the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (dlPFC). The secondary aim is to identify key changes in the emotion regulation neural network following the combined intervention versus each of the components alone. The third aim is to explore personalized biomarkers for response to emotion regulation training. Participants will undergo brain imaging while engaging in an emotional regulation task. Participants will be randomly assigned to learn one of two emotion regulation skills. Participants will be reminded of recent stressors and will undergo different types of neurostimulation, targeted using fMRI (functional MRI) results. Participants who may practice their emotion regulation skills during neurostimulation in a one-time session. Following this training, participants will undergo another fMRI and an exit interview to assess for immediate neural and behavioral changes. Measures of emotion regulation will be assessed at a one week and a one month follow up visit.
The overall aim of the research project is to assess whether the quality of life of patients with severe eating disorders is improved by dental treatment. Patients diagnosed with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa or non-specific binge eating disorder with extensive dental treatment need will be treated with resin composite restorations or prosthetic therapy. The primary outcome measures is oral health related quality of life. Secondary are orofacial functions and oral esthetics. Patients will be compared to a waiting list.

Aim of this study is to compare fixation of nasoenteral feeding tubes using either a nasal patch or a nasal bridle in clinical patients with regard to the occurrence of tube dislocation, complications, and discomfort. 78 (2 * 39) eligible patients will be included in this randomized controlled trial. The study is executed in two general teaching hospitals in the Netherlands (Gelre Hospitals Apeldoorn and Medical Spectrum Twente).
