The Clock Thickens: Morning or Evening Training for the Treatment of NAFLD?

The goal of this clinical trial is to investigate the different effect of morning and evening exercise training in individuals with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The main question it aims to answer is: • Is morning or evening exercise better for the treatment of NAFLD? Participants will follow a supervised exercise training program for three months with either morning or evening training and the effect on liver health will be assessed. Researchers will compare the morning to the evening exercise group to see if one training timepoint is more effective than the other in reducing the amount of fat in the liver and improving liver health.

Accurate Point of Care Liver Disease Diagnostics

This research study is being conducted to find out more about techniques to non-invasively evaluate liver disease. The investigators are testing a new technology to evaluate the liver (LiverScope®), and they will compare it to other methods to evaluate the liver, including advanced conventional liver MR and liver FibroScan® ultrasound exams. MR exams and FibroScan® ultrasound exams are common exams used to monitor NAFLD. Conventional MR scanners use magnetic fields and radio waves to make pictures of the liver. LiverScope® is a small, portable MR-based device that uses similar, but simplified technology, and can be used on top of an exam table in an outpatient setting. LiverScope® currently is not approved for clinical use. In this study the investigators will learn how LiverScope® measurements of the liver compare to MR. Study participants will be asked to complete a one-time visit which includes: - LiverScope exam - MR exam - FibroScan exam (optional) - Blood draw - Completion of study questionnaires

Effect of CoQ10 on the Outcome of MAFLD Patients

So far there has been no universal treatment for MAFLD since it has a complex etiology that involves ethnic, genetic, metabolic and environmental factors. However, therapeutic life changes including: diet, weight loss, and physical activity remain the cornerstone of treatment and is recommended by both American and European associations. Inflammatory biomarkers, such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha, and adipokines play key roles in the pathogenesis of MAFLD, hence, the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects of coenzyme Q10 especially at high doses that have not been tested are hypothesized to have a beneficial role in improving the systemic inflammation and biochemical variables. This is a phase 2 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled parallel group study of 3 dose levels of HU6 in subjects with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Six months (26 weeks) of dosing is planned, and subjects will be followed for safety, efficacy, pharmacodynamics (PD), and pharmacokinetics (PK) during this time. The end-of-study visit will take place approximately 4 weeks after the last dose of the study drug (Week 30).

A Study to Test How Well Different Doses of BI 3006337 Are Tolerated by People With Overweight or Obesity and With Fatty Liver Disease

This study is open to adults with overweight or obesity who also have fatty liver disease. The purpose of this study is to find the highest dose of BI 3006337 that people with overweight or obesity and with fatty liver disease can tolerate. Participants are divided into 4 groups of equal size randomly, which means by chance. Different doses of BI 3006337 are given to participants in each group. Participants in each group receive an injection of either BI 3006337 or placebo once a week. Placebo injections look like BI 3006337 injections but do not contain any medicine. Participants are in the study for about 4 months. During this time, they visit the study site 18 times. Three of the visits include overnight stays at the study site. The doctors check the health of the participants and note any health problems that could have been caused by BI 3006337.
