This study aims to determine the role of the extracellular matrix in lung abnormalities in COVID-19 patients. Anatomical abnormalities of the lungs can be observed by the presence of abnormalities on a chest x-ray that is scored using the Brixia index. The presence of COVID-19 pneumonia can impact oxygenation disorders. In the present study the investigators will evaluate MMPs. serum levels variations in patients affected by critical limb ischemia, before and after lower limb surgical revascularization through venous or prosthetic bypass.
This study aims to deepen the investigators knowledge of Post Thrombotic Syndrome and MMPs (and other related molecules such as TIMPS, NGAL and cytokines) to find a predictive molecular system to better classify the risk of patients to develop a PTS after a DVT episode, in order to monitorate more strictly the patients at high risk for developing this complication.
An association between hemorrhoidal disease and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) has been described previously. MMPs regulate extracellular structural proteins and tissue remodeling. Neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) is involved in the regulation of MMP activity. The aim of this work was to study the relationship between the levels of MMPs and NGAL and different stages hemorrhoids. The study provides potentially important insights to the understanding of the natural history of Hemorrhoids and MMPs and NGAL regulation.
