NCT ID: NCT01794325 Completed - Clinical trials for Coronary Heart Disease

Transradial and Transfemoral Coronary Angiography by EXPERienced operaTors

EXPERT
Start date: February 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Transradial approach (TRA) reduces vascular complications and access related-bleeding compared to transfemoral approach (TFA). However, this technique has been related to higher radiation exposure during coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention. Previous studies have shown that TRA demands a long learning curve, and procedure success rate increases with operator's experience. Our hypothesis is that the higher radiation exposure during TRA is not a technique issue, but due to operator's expertise. The aim of this study is to evaluate whether experienced operators with either TRA or TFA can perform diagnostic coronary angiography with similar radiation exposure.

NCT ID: NCT01677481 Completed - Clinical trials for Exposure to Ionizing Radiation

Randomized Evaluation of Vascular Entry Site and Radiation Exposure: REVERE Trial

REVERE
Start date: February 2011
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The study compares radiation exposure parameters between coronary angiography procedures performed by left wrist, right wrist or groin (femoral) procedure access site

NCT ID: NCT01599351 Completed - Clinical trials for Exposure to Ionizing Radiation

Radiation Exposure During Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography Between Prone and Left Lateral Decubitus

Start date: July 2009
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The objective of this study is to evaluate the radiation dose to patient at two positions (prone and left lateral) and to medical staff during Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) procedure using dose area product (DAP) meter and thermoluminescent dosimeter (TLD). Data were recorded on 20 patients at prone position and 20 patients at left lateral position.

NCT ID: NCT01334931 Completed - Radiation Injury Clinical Trials

Use of Large Field of View During Image Acquisition for Coronary Angiography

XRay Reduction
Start date: April 2011
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Coronary angiography exposes patients and physicians to ionizing radiation. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the routine use of large field of view during image acquisition for coronary angiography. Patients with indication of diagnostic coronary angiography will be randomized for the use of either large field of view during image acquisition or medium field of view. Patients, physician and nurse radiation exposure will be measured by digital dosimeter.
