NCT ID: NCT05407896 Recruiting - Clinical trials for End-Stage Kidney Disease

End-Stage Kidney Disease Interactive Decision Aid for the Elderly (myKIDNEY)

Start date: July 1, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Decision aids are highly recommended for decisions when there is no "right" treatment choice. The goal is to help patients choose a treatment that is consistent with their preferences and to minimize decisional conflict and regret. A case where there is no "right" treatment concerns the decision to undergo dialysis or supportive care (i.e., conservative management) for elderly (aged ≥70) patients with end-stage kidney disease. The investigators propose to develop an interactive web-based decision aid and test its effectiveness via a pre-post study design. This research aims to reduce decisional conflict for elderly ESKD patients and caregivers.

NCT ID: NCT05311956 Recruiting - Chronic Pain Clinical Trials

Pain Reduction Using NEurostimulation Study

PRUNE
Start date: October 24, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This is a 4-year project to see if a small battery-powered, device attached to a headband, that sits on the skin surface and delivers what is a hardly noticeable level of electrical stimulation can reduce pain in patients who receive hemodialysis on an ongoing basis.

NCT ID: NCT05241171 Completed - Physical Activity Clinical Trials

The "Step4Life" Randomized Control Trial in Hemodialysis

Start date: January 1, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Persons with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) have very low physical activity, and among ESKD patients, the level of inactivity is strongly associated with morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to assess the feasibility and effectiveness of a 12-week intervention coupling use of wearable pedometers (FitBit ®) and feedback coaching to increase physical activity in hemodialysis patients.

NCT ID: NCT05027074 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Kidney Failure, Chronic

Global Study of MK-2060 (Anti-Factor XI Monoclonal Antibody) in Participants With End Stage Renal Disease Receiving Hemodialysis (FXI Hemodialysis Study) (MK-2060-007)

Start date: September 17, 2021
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of two different doses of MK-2060 (a monoclonal antibody against Factor XI) in end stage renal disease (ESRD) participants receiving hemodialysis via an arteriovenous graft (AVG). Data from this study will be used to aid dose selection of MK-2060 in future studies. The primary hypothesis is that at least one of the MK-2060 doses is superior to placebo in increasing the time to first occurrence of AVG event.

NCT ID: NCT04932876 Recruiting - Covid19 Clinical Trials

The Response of the Immune System of Patients With End Stage Kidney Disease on Dialysis and Kidney Transplant Recipients Vaccinated for COVID-19

Start date: April 24, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Observational study of patients with End Stage Kidney Disease on dialysis and Kidney Transplant Recipients, before and after vaccination for SARS-COV 2, after written consent, with the aim of laboratory efficacy of the vaccine and safety regarding the clinical outcome of patients and possible complications.

NCT ID: NCT04912024 Completed - Acute Kidney Injury Clinical Trials

Comparative Outcome Measures of Patients Receiving Acute Renal ThErapy Study

COMPARE
Start date: May 15, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Retrospective, multicenter, comparative, post-market study of the Tablo Hemodialysis System in hospitalized participants with End-Stage Renal Disease or Acute Kidney Injury.

NCT ID: NCT04877041 Recruiting - Hemodialysis Clinical Trials

Exercise and Cardiac Stunning During HD

Start date: March 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of a 12-week cycling during hemodialysis program on hemodialysis-induced myocardial stunning in adult individuals receiving hemodialysis.

NCT ID: NCT04815850 Completed - Clinical trials for End Stage Kidney Disease

Phenotyping Seroconversion Following Vaccination Against COVID-19 in Patients on Haemodialysis Study

Start date: March 1, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Patients on haemodialysis are at higher risk of getting a severe form of COVID-19 if they become infected. Vaccinations are soon to arrive and offer great hope of controlling the current pandemic. It is likely that patients on haemodialysis will be amongst the first people to be offered vaccination against COVID-19 when they become available. While any vaccines offered to these patients will be safe to receive, the effectiveness of the vaccines at giving immunity to being infected with COVID-19 are not known as they have not been explicitly tested in patients on haemodialysis. This study will involve having 3 blood tests to test for an antibody response following vaccination for COVID-19. The first will be 1 month after the first vaccination dose to look at the initial antibody response and the second and third will be 1 month and 6 months after the second vaccination dose.

NCT ID: NCT04774770 Recruiting - Clinical trials for End Stage Renal Disease

HED-Start: Evaluating a Positive Skills Intervention for Patients New on Haemodialysis

Start date: January 5, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Hemodialysis patients often experience barriers and misperceptions that hinder adjustment to life on dialysis. This study seeks to explore a group-based intervention (titled HED-Start) developed to improve self-care and emotional wellbeing among incident hemodialysis patients.

NCT ID: NCT04669184 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for End Stage Kidney Disease

Sarcopenia and Physical Performance in Hemodialysis Patients

Start date: January 1, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Many systems such as the cardiovascular, pulmonary, musculoskeletal, hematological, immunological, gastrointestinal, central nervous system are affected due to decreased kidney function. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between physical performance and sarcopenia, peripheral muscle strength, activities of daily living, cognitive functions, physical activity level, fragility, pain in hemodialysis patients.
