Ice Massage Applied to SP6 Point at Labor

Purpose: In the study , it was aimed to determine the effect of ice massage applied to SP6 point during labor on labor pain, labor comfort, labor duration, and anxiety. Design: A single blind, randomized controlled experimental trial Setting and Participants: 100 primiparas, 50 in the intervention group and 50 in the control group, with 4-5 cm cervical dilatations were included in the study. Ice massage was applied to the SP6 point of the pregnant women in the intervention group at 4-5 cm, 6-7 cm, and 8-9 cm dilatations during three contractions. Measurement Tools: The Pregnant Information Form, VAS, the Partograph Form, Childbirth Comfort Questionnaire (CCQ), and the State Anxiety Scale were used to collect data.

Labour is usually physiologic, spontaneous and progressive, but occasionally, there may be the need for induction or augmentation of labour especially in nulliparous women, who are at increased risk of dysfunctional labour. Oxytocin traditionally has been used for induction and augmentation of labour however prolonged labour continued to occur with attendant sequelae. Newer agents like propranolol, with minimal to no maternal and fetal adverse effects in labour have been shown to decreases the duration of labour when used in synergy with oxytocin. However, the paucity of information on the use of propranolol in labour.

Effect of Hot Pack on Labor Pain, Duration of Labor, and Satisfaction of Primigravidae Women in Saudi Arabia

The study aimed at determining the effect of hot pack on labor pain reduction and the duration of labor in comparison with routine care. Further, the study also aimed at determining the women's satisfaction with the use of hot pack and with routine care with hypotheses: H1: Primigravid women who received hot pack in the active phase of labor will have a significantly lower mean labor pain score than those who received routine care. H2: Primigravid women who received hot pack in the active phase of labor will have significantly shorter mean labor duration than those who received routine care.

The Impact of Papaverine on First Stage of Labor

In the investigators institution, there is a wide use of Papaverine in delivery room, but this use is optional, and is left to the discretion of the physician. The aim of the investigators study is to prospectively evaluate the influence of Papaverine administration in the latent phase of labor, on the duration of labor.
