NCT ID: NCT02929043 Completed - Clinical trials for Dentine Hypersensitivity

Psychophysical Characterization and Brain Correlates of Dentine Hypersensitivity

Start date: July 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Up to date, devices capable of delivering controlled, calibrated, non-contact cold air stimuli in a MR environment are unavailable for quantitative sensory testing. This project therefore aimed at designing and constructing a novel MR-compatible, computer-controlled cold air stimulation device that produces air puffs in a broad flow and cold temperature range. By means of this device, detailed psychophysically testing and subsequent brain scanning of dentine hypersensitivity (DH) subjects will be possible to gain new insights about DH mechanisms.

NCT ID: NCT02924350 Completed - Dentin Sensitivity Clinical Trials

The Efficacy of an Occluding Dentifrice in Providing Relief From Dentinal Hypersensitivity (DH)

Start date: November 7, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This single center study will investigate the efficacy of an experimental stannous fluoride containing dentifrice in relieving DH compared with a standard fluoride dentifrice after short term use.

NCT ID: NCT02923895 Completed - Dentin Sensitivity Clinical Trials

To Investigate the Efficacy of an Occluding Dentifrice in Dentinal Hypersensitivity (DH)

Start date: October 11, 2016
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

This single centre study will be used to investigate the efficacy of an experimental stannous fluoride containing dentifrice in relieving dentinal hypersensitivity (DH) after short term use compared with a standard fluoride dentifrice.

NCT ID: NCT02919202 Completed - Dentin Sensitivity Clinical Trials

Clinical Trial to Compare the Efficacy of a Fluoride Gel and a Dental Bonding Agent in Treatment of Tooth Sensitivity

Start date: October 26, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study compares the efficacy of two dental interventions in the treatment of cervical dentine sensitivity. The participants will be selected from adult dental patients registered at a general dental practice in West Sussex, UK. The participants will be split into 2 groups. One group will receive the intervention of topical fluoride varnish application while the other group will receive a topical application of self-etching dentine bonding agent.

NCT ID: NCT02918617 Completed - Dentin Sensitivity Clinical Trials

Clinical Efficacy in Relieving Dentin Hypersensitivity of Nanohydroxyapatite-Containing Toothpastes and Cream

Start date: May 2015
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This study will investigate the effectiveness of nanohydroxyapatite (nano-HAP)-containing toothpastes and cream to relieve dentin hypersensitivity, comparing it with those of a commercial desensitizing dentifrice containing calcium sodium phosphosilicate (Novamin® technology) and a standard fluoride dentifrice containing 1,500 ppm fluoride as sodium monofluorophosphate (MFP).

NCT ID: NCT02895321 Completed - Dentin Sensitivity Clinical Trials

Nano-hydroxyapatite With Potassium Nitrate in the Therapy of the Dental Sensitivity

Start date: March 2016
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The chief aim of this study is to evaluate the difference in tooth sensitivity after having used a gel containing nano - hydroxyapatite and potassium nitrate This randomized double-blind clinical study is designed to compare the efficacy in reducing dentin hypersensitivity of a toothpaste gel containing Nano-hydroxyapatite and potassium nitrate (Cavex Bite & White ExSense, Cavex Holland BV) with a fluoride-based gel toothpaste ( Colgate, Protection Caries, Palmolive SPA ). Specific objectives : To evaluate through standardized tests the dental sensitivity before and after the application of toothpastes; To compare the variations of dental sensitivity test and control groups. Safety: determination of adverse reactions, such as increased tooth pain and changes in the oral mucosa after application of the materials.

NCT ID: NCT02888847 Completed - Discoloured Teeth Clinical Trials

High Light Intensity Bleaching Versus Descending Light Intensities Bleaching on Post Bleaching Teeth Sensitivity

Start date: September 10, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Compare teeth sensitivity using bleaching protocol with different light intensities (Philips Zoom!™ White Speed whitening gel and lamp, Discus Dental, Inc., Culver City, CA, USA.) versus bleaching protocol with the same light intensity (Philips Zoom!™ Advanced Power whitening gel and lamp, Discus Dental, Inc., Culver City, CA, USA.).

NCT ID: NCT02861664 Completed - Dentin Sensitivity Clinical Trials

Assessment of the Efficacy of an Experimental Occlusion Technology Dentifrice in Dentinal Hypersensitivity

Start date: September 21, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study will evaluate the effectiveness of an experimental dentifrice containing stannous fluoride, an established dentine tubule occlusion technology, at reducing dentine hypersensitivity (DH) compared to a negative control dentifrice. The test and control dentifrices will be administered for a total of 8 weeks, with assessments (via evaporative air and tactile stimuli) at baseline, and after 4 and 8 weeks twice-daily use.

NCT ID: NCT02832375 Completed - Dentin Sensitivity Clinical Trials

Investigating the Efficacy of an Occluding Dentifrice in Providing Relief From Dentinal Hypersensitivity

Start date: March 2016
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This single center, comparative design study will be used to investigate the efficacy of an experimental stannous fluoride containing dentifrice in relieving dentinal hypersensitivity (DH) after short term use compared with a standard fluoride dentifrice.

NCT ID: NCT02789618 Completed - Dentine Sensitivity Clinical Trials

A Pilot Study to Substantiate the Use of the Jay Sensitivity Sensor Probe

Start date: October 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Subjects with at least two teeth with dentinal hypersensitivity and who meet the study criteria will be enrolled onto this double blind, randomised, parallel, controlled clinical trial. After enrolment, suitable subjects will use a fluoride toothpaste for 4 weeks (wash out period). Baseline dentine hypersensitivity assessments will be conducted using tactile stimuli, air blast, and VAS methods. Tactile methods of assessment will include use of the Yeaple Probe and the Jay Sensitivity Sensor probe. Air blast assessments will be conducted using the Schiff cold air sensitivity scale. The Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP) questionnaire will be completed at four defined time points during the study. The baseline assessments will be conducted on the two teeth identified during the screening visit. On completion of the baseline assessments, subjects will be randomly assigned to product. Dentinal hypersensitivity assessments will be repeated after 18, 28 and 56 days of product use.
