Behavioral Support Techniques on Anxiety and Physical Reaction From Dental Treatment

Application of deep touch pressure (DTP) has been suggested to provide positive effects on anxiety modulation. However, empirical and theoretical evidence linked to the clinical effects of DTP is relatively rare in the behavioral and physiological aspects. The aim of this intervention trial study designs to investigate the effect of DTP in dental treatment by quantitative analysis of behavioral assessments and physiological measurements, including the electrodermal activity and heart rate variability, were conducted to understand the modulation of the autonomic nervous system (ANS), the orchestration of sympathetic (SNS) and parasympathetic (PsNS) nervous systems.

The goal of this project is to analyze the effectiveness of calculus and biofilm removal using area-specific hand scalers such as Mini Five® Gracey Curettes and Micro Mini Five® Gracey Curettes in periodontal pockets that are 5mm or greater. The data collected from this project will provide the evidence needed to support the use of modified hand scalers during non-surgical periodontal therapy for clinicians.

Nationwide Awareness Campaign and Call for Dental Screening for HHT in Germany

HHT is a relative rare autosomal dominant inherited disorder of the fibrovascular tissue. Diagnosis of HHT is often delayed for decades (Pierucci 2012). However, it would be desirable to achieve an early diagnosis as early screening and treatment decrease disease-associated complications and increase life expectancy (Kroon 2018). Our approach is a nationwide call and awareness campaign to dentists in Germany, as nearly all persons visit a dentist from time to time. This approach is promising to us, as most patients develop nosebleeds and multiple, typical telangiectases of the skin or mucosa. A predilection site is the oral mucosa and the face, including the lips (Shovlin 2000).

This is a prospective randomized open-label blinded endpoint (PROBE) The study will be conducted in Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai hospital. The patients with dual-antipletlet who need dental procedure between Febuary 2017 until Febuary 2018 will be included in the study. Baseline characteristics of the enrolled patients including bleeding complication will be collected in each patient. To compare rate of significant bleeding from dental procedure between patient who need two antiplatelet and who stop P2Y12 inhibitors before procedure.
