The trial will evaluate multiple strategies, that target both clinics and for patients, to increase the number of patients who enroll in Utah Tobacco Quit Line treatment.
This trial studies best dose and how well repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) works in promoting smoking cessation and preventing relapse in current smokers. rTMS is a form of brain stimulation therapy that controls nerve cell activity, increases blood flow in the brain, and improves cognitive function.
This phase II trial studies how well 18F-FSPG positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) work in diagnosing early lung cancer in patients with lung nodules. PET imaging with an imaging agent called 18F-FDG is often used in combination with a PET/CT scanner to evaluate cancers. Giving 18F-FSPG before a PET/CT scan may work better in helping researchers diagnose early lung cancer in patients with lung nodules.
This phase II trial studies how well smoking cessation treatment plans work in tobacco-dependent cancer patients when delivered virtually as part of their cancer care in community oncology practices. Virtual information and counseling sessions may help cancer patients quit smoking.
This trial studies how well a mobile smartphone application called Quitting Schedule works in helping participants to quit smoking. Quitting Schedule is based on WebCASSI, a computer-based initiative that offered state of-the-art smoking cessation treatment and counseling to MD Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC) patients and served as a portal for non-patients to find information regarding smoking cessation advice and treatments. Quitting Schedule may help participants to quit smoking.
This randomized clinical trial studies the Beating Lung Cancer in Ohio protocol in improving survival in patients with stage IV non-small cell lung cancer. The Beating Lung Cancer in Ohio protocol may help in evaluating immunotherapies and targeted therapies that prolong survival, have more favorable toxicity profiles than conventional chemotherapy and impact quality of life.
This randomized pilot clinical trial studies the effects of electronic cigarettes on the lungs. Studying the effects of electronic cigarettes on the lungs may provide the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and other government regulators with important information, which may help in developing future regulations to make electronic cigarettes safer.
This pilot clinical trial studies how well the "JeffQuit" group therapy program works in enabling patients with a history of cancer to quit smoking. The JeffQuit program uses group therapy to provide psychological support and address the mental need for smoking, the habit or routine it creates, and the physical need for nicotine. It is not yet known how well the JeffQuit program will work in helping patients with a history of cancer to stop smoking.
