There are about 189 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Venezuela. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
This randomized phase III trial studies how well gemcitabine hydrochloride and docetaxel followed by doxorubicin hydrochloride work compared to observation in treating patients with high-risk uterine leiomyosarcoma previously removed by surgery. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as gemcitabine hydrochloride, docetaxel, and doxorubicin hydrochloride, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. It is not yet known whether combination therapy after surgery is an effective treatment for uterine leiomyosarcoma.
PUMA is an observational, multicentre, multinational, cross-sectional study with primary care physicians (primary care, general and family physicians). Participants will be selected sequentially among patients at risk for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) who attend primary care consultation (primary care, general and family physicians). The inclusion visit will be a regularly scheduled or spontaneous consultation for patients, and this appointment with the physician will not depend on the study. During the appointment, data will be collected from the patient and the physician.
The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of vitamin A and carotenoids on iron absorption in healthy subjects with low and normal vitamin A status. Vitamin A and carotenoids have been reported to enhance the nonheme iron absorption, but the results from human isotope studies are equivocal. Radio-iron studies in Venezuelan adults have consistently reported an increase in iron absorption, whereas stable and radio isotopes studies conducted in Sweden and Switzerland reported no influence. Differences in vitamin A status of the subjects may be a possible explanation for the contradictory findings. In this study, iron absorption will be measured from an iron-fortified maize bread meal with or without retinyl palmitate or β-carotene by using both stable- and radioactive-isotope techniques in Venezuelan women with a range of vitamin A status.
Since diabetes has multiple etiologies and oxidative stress one of the proposed mechanisms, the objective is to determine the effect of supplementation with β-carotene to type 2 diabetics and healthy individuals, on iron metabolism, oxidative balance, and antioxidant plasma capacity, using doses similar to the daily nutritional requirement.
In this part of the Registry Program patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (AF) at risk for stroke are enrolled to characterize the target population and to collect real world data on important outcome events. For administrative purposes the study is divided into two protocol numbers: 1160.129 for all non-EU (European Union) and non-EEA (European Economic Area) countries, and 1160.136 for EU and EEA countries. The total number of patients enrolled in both protocols is estimated to be 48,000 patients, and all these patients will be included in the data analysis for study 1160.129.
Retrospective, non-interventional, observational multi-center field study. Patients diagnosed with wet Age-related macular degeneration (wAMD) and having started treatment with ranibizumab between January 1, 2009 and August 31, 2009 must be consecutively screened and, if eligible, enrolled. Patients will be followed up at maximum until August 31, 2011. Switch to any other Anti vascUlar endothelial growth factor (anti VEGF) treatment will be documented and followed up. For each patient, demographics, medical history, administered treatments, results of ocular and visual assessments and other tests (where available) will be documented.
This study will describe the long-term safety and effectiveness, treatment patterns,and patient reported quality of life associated with ranibizumab treatment in routine clinical practice for all approved indication included in the local product label.

Background: - Research has shown that the Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) gene is an important target for personalized lung cancer treatment. Individuals who have mutations in the EGFR gene have better responses when treated with certain personalized or targeted therapies compared with conventional chemotherapy. These mutations are more frequent in females with lung cancer who have never smoked, and different ethnic groups have different levels of frequency of the mutations. Researchers are interested in collecting more information on EGFR genetic mutations in Hispanics/Latinos with lung cancer, comparing the frequency of these mutations in males and females and smokers and nonsmokers. This study may lead to better, more personalized care approaches for all individuals with lung cancer. Objectives: - To study the frequency of Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor mutations in Hispanic/Latino individuals who have been diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer. Eligibility: - Hispanic or Latino individuals who have been diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer and who have lung tissue from a previous biopsy or surgery available for research purposes. Design: - Participants will provide consent for researchers to examine lung tissue collected from a previous biopsy or surgery. - Treatment will not be provided as part of this protocol.
