The publication of a Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) is often not enough for its correct use in the field of health care. There are barriers to the implementation of the CPG recommendations, including those related to the lack of knowledge or skills on the part of health service providers. Strategies have been proposed to improve the implementation of the CPGs through interventions with different levels of effectiveness, such as the use of reminders, informative meetings, sending educational material, audits, among others. Some of these interventions can be carried out through Telehealth strategies, that is, with remote services. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a Telehealth program to improve the implementation of the Clinical Practice Guideline for diagnosis and preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative treatment of the amputee, the prescription of the prosthesis and comprehensive rehabilitation, through strategies to publicize the recommendations included in the CPG and train doctors, reducing the barriers related to the lack of knowledge of the CPG. For this, two groups of institutions that provide health services in Antioquia will be compared, randomized according to two interventions: the socialization of the recommendations of the CPG for amputees, against a combined strategy of education through a Telehealth platform and the delivery of educational material. Compliance with prioritized recommendations of the CPG will be evaluated, related to surgical techniques, perioperative practices, the prescription of prosthetic components and referral to services that allow the comprehensive rehabilitation of the person with amputation. Additionally, the theoretical knowledge of the doctors of each participating institution before and after the interventions will be evaluated through a written test.

This is a phase Ib/II clinical study that has two phases. In phase Ib, the safety evaluation of the extract of Petiveria alliacea (Esperanza) will be carried out in patients with metastatic gastrointestinal tumors (colon, pancreas, stomach, and biliary tract) and patients with newly diagnosed and relapsed acute leukemia. In phase IIb, the safety will continue to be evaluated, and the efficacy of the Esperanza extract will be explored in combination with chemotherapy in patients with metastatic gastrointestinal tumors (colon, pancreas, stomach, and biliary tract) with newly diagnosed acute leukemias and relapses.

A Study to Assess Change in Disease State in Adult Participants With Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) Receiving Oral Venetoclax Tablets in Combination With Subcutaneously (SC) or Intravenously (IV) Injected Azacitidine in Colombia

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow and is the most common acute leukemia in adults. This study will evaluate how well venetoclax in combination with azacitidine works to treat AML in adult participants in Colombia. Venetoclax in combination with azacytidine is approved to treat Acute myeloid leukemia (AML). All study participants will receive venetoclax in combination with azacitidine as prescribed by their study doctor in accordance with approved local label. Adult participants with a new diagnosis of AML will be enrolled. Around 70 participants will be enrolled in the study in Colombia. Participants will receive venetoclax tablets to be taken by mouth in combination with azacitidine given by subcutaneous (SC) or intravenous (IV) injection according to the approved local label. The duration of the study is approximately 36 months. There is expected to be no additional burden for participants in this trial. All study visits will occur during routine clinical practice.

Effectiveness of a Pain Neuroscience Education Program in Adults With Cancer Pain

IASP defines "pain" as "an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with or resembling that associated with actual or potential tissue damage". In some patients, pain is one of the reasons they initially consult a doctor and will be strongly related to cancer itself, is connected to receiving the cancer diagnosis, and therefore may become an uncertain threat of disease recurrence in cancer survivors. Neuropathic pain is the most prevalent type of pain, but a mixed type of pain is also common, reflecting the complexity of the pain experience. There is increasing evidence in oncology that quality of life and survival are linked to early and effective palliative care, including pain management. Although improvements have been seen, undertreatment of pain remains a problem in a significant subset of cancer patients. Regarding the interventional options in cancer pain, multiple possibilities range from pharmacological modulation, the use of modalities or physical means, as well as the practice of physical exercise as a mechanism of pain modulation, which has been established according to the background grade of recommendation. Regarding education in neuroscience, this has gained momentum in chronic pain since previous interventions have generated recommendations to include neurocognitive interventions in pain processes. Therefore, it seeks to determine the effectiveness of a neuroscience education program compared to conventional treatment in adults with cancer pain in biopsychosocial variables.

Safety and Immunogenicity of V116 in Pneumococcal Vaccine-naïve Adults 50 Years of Age or Older (V116-010, STRIDE-10)

This is a phase 3, randomized, double-blind, active comparator-controlled study of the safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity of V116 in pneumococcal vaccine-naïve adults 50 years of age and older. The polyvalent (23-valent) pneumococcal vaccine, PPSV23, is the active comparator. In addition to studying safety/tolerability, it is hypothesized that, at 30 days postvaccination, the immunogenicity of V116 is noninferior to PPSV23 for the 12 common serotypes in V116 and PPSV23, and that V116 is superior to PPSV23 for the 9 serotypes unique to V116. It is also hypothesized that V116 is superior to PPSV23 in the percentage of participants with ≥4-fold rise from baseline in unique V116 serotypes, as measured by serotype-specific opsonophagocytic activity (OPA) geometric mean titers (GMTs).
