There are about 13446 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Belgium. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Flow disruption is a new endovascular approach for treatment of both ruptured and unruptured intracranial aneurysms, which involves placement of an endosaccular device (WEB) which modifies the blood flow at the level of the neck and induces intraaneurysmal thrombosis. The WEB was designed to treat wide-neck bifurcation aneurysms. This observational study will collect data about the routine practice in one center of using the WEB in ruptured and unruptured intracranial aneurysms. The primary objective is to evaluate its efficacy by assessing the anatomic outcome during follow-up.
During Total hip replacement arthroplasty (THA), the hip joint first must be luxated in order to have access to the joints. A lot of force and torque must be carried out on the joint to perform this manipulation. This is both difficult for the surgeon and may cause additional tissue damage and postoperative pain. After placement of the prosthesis and reduction of the joint, the tension of the hip joint must be evaluated by the surgeon to ascertain the adequacy of the prosthesis. During luxation, minimal muscle tension would be ideal, while after reduction of the joint, normal muscle tension is desired to permit assessment of the mechanics of the hip joint. The aim of the study is to investigate whether deep neuromuscular block, combined with a reversal before mechanics assessment improves surgical conditions, surgical time, and postoperative patient comfort.
ARTemIS-Eso is a phase I-II, three-level, open-label trial with a dose-expansion cohort at recommended schedule in both esophageal cancer histological groups (squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma) of RCT and ImT administered prior to surgery.
"real-life" retrospective multicentric database for the analysis of the long term outcomes of total arterial CABG in comparison to saphenous vein based CABG
To investigate the safety and efficacy of abatacept with steroid treatment in comparison to steroid treatment alone in up to a 28 week taper of steroid treatment to sustain remission of Giant Cell Arteritis in adults.
Study CV-0003 will be the second clinical trial administering CV-MG01 in humans. This will be a phase 2/3 proof-of-efficacy therapeutic confirmatory study following the proof-of-concept exploratory phase 1 study (CV-0002).
This study investigates the effect of cervical physical therapy on tinnitus annoyance in patients with somatic tinnitus. This study specifically enrolls patients with co-varying tinnitus and neck complaints, with low-pitched tinnitus or patients who's tinnitus can be influenced by neck movements or positions. These inclusion criteria were chosen, since a prior study showed that these factors were good prognostic indicators for a positive treatment effect.
Endometrial cancer is the most common pelvic gynecological cancer in so-called developed countries, with 320,000 new cases annually, including more than 1,500 in Belgium. It preferentially affects postmenopausal women. Overall survival at 5 years is 76% but is 95% for early forms, which represent more than 70% of diagnoses. The main risk factors are obesity, diabetes and tamoxifen intake for breast cancer, which explains the increasing incidence. Half a million new annual cases are expected in 2035. The main symptom is postmenopausal metrorrhagia.Among these women, the prevalence of the disease is estimated between 10 and 15%. Currently the recommendations are to make an evaluation by endovaginal ultrasound followed by an endometrial biopsy. The histological type is the main predictor of the severity of the disease and acts as guideline for the treatment. It is therefore essential to have precise biopsy results before starting therapeutic management. The most widely used technique is the blind biopsy by aspiration using a pipette because it is inexpensive, easy, without any specific equipment. However, recent studies showed that this technique has a poor sensitivity in the target population of postmenopausal women. Other studies have shown that targeted biopsies under hysteroscopic control could have a much higher sensitivity. The main objective of this study is thus to compare the performance of the targeted biopsy under hysteroscopy to the performance of the biopsy by aspiration with a pipette, for the diagnosis of endometrial cancer.
This 22 week study will assess the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of LDE225 versus vehicle when applied topically to basal cell carcinoma (BCC) in patients with NBCCS. Patients will treat multiple BCCs for up to 12 weeks. Treatment success is defined as complete clinical clearance and complete histological clearance in BCCs.
The 4 following scores have been proposed to detect OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea): DES-OSA, STOP-Bang, P-SAP, and OSA50. The aim of this study is to evaluate the optimal cutoff value of these four scores to detect specifically serve OSA patients with hypoxemia.
