There are about 4010 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Argentina. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The severity of COVID-19 is related to the level of hypoxemia, respiratory failure, how long it lasts and how refractory it is at increasing concentrations of inspired oxygen. The inability to perform hematosis due to edema that occurs from acute inflammation could be attenuated by the administration of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO). Recently, it has been reported benefits in this matter in patients with SARS-CoV-2 hypoxemic pneumonia in China; where the administration of repeated HBO sessions decreased the need for mechanical ventilation (MV) in patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit due to COVID-19. Hyperbaric oxygen is capable of increasing drastically the amount of dissolved oxygen in the blood and maintain an adequate supply oxygen to the tissues. In addition to this, it can influence immune processes, both humoral and cellular, allowing to reduce the intensity of the response inflammatory and stimulate antioxidant defenses. HBO is considered safe and it has very few adverse events, it is a procedure approved by our authorities regulatory for several years. In the current context of the pandemic by COVID-19 and worldwide reports of mortality associated with severe cases of respiratory failure, it is essential to propose therapeutical strategies to limit or decrease respiratory compromise of severe stages by COVID-19. That is why, it is proposed to carry out this research to assess whether HBO treatment can improve the evolution of patients with COVID-19 severe hypoxemia.
The TRANSLATE study aims to better understand why tumors become resistant to standard anti-cancer therapies. New tumor biopsy and blood samples are collected after disease progression on standard-of-care anti-cancer treatment and compared to the initial (archival) tumor biopsy sample taken from the same patient. Annotated reports of results from clinical Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) gene panel tests of both tumor and blood are sent directly from the testing lab to the study physician for discussion with the patient during the study. Patients may participate in interventional treatment clinical trials at the same time as participating in the TRANSLATE study. Primary data will be publicly available after the study to support further research.
The purpose of the study is to assess the effects of selexipag on right ventricular (RV) function in participants with Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH).
The purpose of this study is to evaluate if the addition of GSK3359609 to pembrolizumab in combination with 5FU-platinum based chemotherapy improves the efficacy of the pembrolizumab combination with 5FU-platinum based chemotherapy in participants with recurrent or metastatic (R/M) head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). This randomized, double-blinded, Phase II/III study will compare the combination of GSK3359609 with pembrolizumab and 5FU-platinum chemotherapy to placebo in combination with pembrolizumab and 5FU-platinum chemotherapy in participants with recurrent or metastatic HNSCC of the oral cavity, oropharynx, hypopharynx or larynx.
This is a Phase 3 trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of 30 milligrams (mg)/kilogram (kg) intravenous (IV) infusions of pamrevlumab administered every 3 weeks as compared to placebo in participants with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF). There is a 48-week randomized treatment phase followed by an optional, open-label extension phase.

The purpose of this study is to determine the efficacy and safety of multiple CSJ117 doses (0.5; 1; 2; 4 and 8 mg) inhaled once daily compared with placebo, when added to standard-of-care (SoC) asthma therapy in adult patients with uncontrolled asthma with respect to change from baseline in FEV1 at the end of 12 weeks of treatment.
There is an urgent need to evaluate interventions that could be effective against the infection with SARS-CoV 2. Tannins based wood extracts are an inexpensive and safe product with protective effect in both bacterial and viral infections likely due to its anti- inflammatory, anti-oxidative effects and their modulation of the intestinal microbiota. This randomized controlled trial seeks to evaluate the efficacy of the tannins based dietary supplement ARBOX in positive COVID-19 patients.
The objectives of this study are to evaluate the safety, tolerability, antiviral activity and efficacy of AT-527 in adult subjects ≥18 years of age with moderate COVID-19 and risk factors for poor outcomes (such as obesity (BMI>30), hypertension, diabetes or asthma). Eligible subjects will be randomized to blinded AT-527 (nucleotide analog) tablets or matching placebo tablets to be administered orally for 5 days. Part A will evaluate an AT-527 dose of 550 mg BID and Part B will evaluate a second dose of AT-527 (1100 mg BID). Local supportive standard of care (SOC) will be allowed for all subjects. Efficacy, antiviral activity and safety observations will be compared for treatment with active AT-527 tablets vs. placebo tablets.
There is compelling data indicating that there is an excessive inflammatory response in some patients with COVID-19 leading them to develop ARDS that can be severe with a very poor prognosis. Many of these patients require very long mechanical ventilation times to survive, which have led to the collapse of the health system in some regions of the world. The current evidence for the treatment of these severe forms is inconsistent and most scientific societies and governmental or international organizations recommend evaluating treatments with randomized clinical trials. Corticosteroids, being non-specific anti-inflammatory drugs, could shorten the duration of respiratory failure and improve the prognosis. Due to the lack of solid data available regarding this serious disease, our objective is to randomly evaluate the efficacy and safety of the use of dexamethasone, a parenteral corticosteroid approved in Argentina, in patients with ARDS with confirmed respiratory infection due to SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19). After RECOVERY trial prepublication, low dose (6 mg QD for 10 days) dexamethasone was recommended as the usual care treatment for severe COVID-19. At this time only 3 patients had been included in the trial. Thus, we updated our recommendations for centers and decided to compare two different doses of this glucocorticoid for the treatment of ADRS due to COVID-19.
