There are about 27 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Afghanistan. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The study will be a mixed methods, two-arm, cluster-randomized controlled trial. The primary aim of this evaluation is to measure the effectiveness of the Community-Based Nutrition Package intervention on child feeding practices among parents/caregivers to children 6 to 23 months of age in Afghanistan.
The purpose of the trial is to develop the evidence on relative efficacy of 3 available single-dose loperamide adjuncted regimens for watery diarrhea and a single-dose regimen, with and without loperamide, for dysentery/febrile diarrhea required for informing decisions among these regimens. Information from this study will be used to develop management guidelines for the diagnosis and management of travelers' diarrhea (TD) among deployed United States and United Kingdom military personnel.
