Filter by:The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the superiority of the treatment of cognitive therapy software 'NDTx-01' compared to TAU (Treatment-As-Usual).
Achieving speech that is understandable and acceptable to others is the key outcome in cleft treatment. Therefore, speech therapy provided by a speech-language pathologist is necessary. This intervention is traditionally provided twice per week for 30 minutes for months or even years by first-line speech-language pathologists. Unfortunately, this low intensity intervention is based on a historical context rather than scientific evidence. This means that current speech therapy knows several shortcomings including poor outcomes, treatment fatigue and high costs related to year-long therapy. Because of these issues, the use of high intensity speech intervention is proposed. Even though solid proof-of-concepts exist for this model, it has not yet found its way into clinical practice. Before this intensity can be implemented and utilized in clinical practice, the effect of this novel program on a larger societal scale must be determined. This project will compare the effect of high intensity and low intensity speech intervention in children with a cleft palate in terms of speech, quality of life, and cost-utility as provided by first-line speech-language pathologists by conducting a large-scale randomized controlled trial. The final goal is to utilize this program in clinical practice and to create awareness of the benefits for children with a cleft palate among stakeholders.
This clinical trial study has two goals. The first goal is to establish fitness levels, participation in physical activities, and fine/gross motor abilities for children with development language disorder (DLD). DLD occurs in 1/13 children and children with DLD often have poorer fine/gross motor skills than those with typical development. The second goal is to determine whether physical exercise helps children with DLD and typical development to learn better and improve fitness and fine/gross motor abilities more than participating in restful play activities. All children (DLD and typically developing) will undergo communication, fine/gross motor and fitness testing. Children will be randomly assigned to participate in an exercise program (n =20) or to a restful play program (n = 20). Both programs will take place 3x/week for 6 weeks and children will only participate in one of the two programs. Children in the exercise program will do activities to train cardiovascular fitness, agility, balance, strength, and endurance while children in the restful play condition will do things like play with legos and color. Researchers will compare changes in learning tasks and fitness levels for children (DLD and typically developing) who participated in the exercise program vs. restful play program.
The overall objective of this study is to develop an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) system that is effective in delivering a person-centric communication device that will provide a versatile access method that can automatically learn and adapt to the user's physical abilities by creating a personalized, comprehensive keyboard interface for communication, not otherwise available to people in need of alternative communication.
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the score of the Evaluation of the Impact of Deafness in Adults(ERSA)/150 questionnaire obtained at 3 months compared to the inclusion score.
This clinical trial aims to determine if a new smartphone-based speech therapy is effective self-treatment method for patients with post-stroke dysarthria. For this study, participants in the intervention group will use the speech therapy app for 1 hour per day, 5 days per week, over a 4-week period. The active control group will receive home-based speech therapy with the same duration and frequency as the intervention group. The study will help us understand if smartphone-based speech therapy is a viable treatment option for post-stroke dysarthria patients.
Dyslexia is characterized by difficulties with accurate and/or fluent word recognition and by poor spelling and decoding abilities. In France, dyslexia is a public health disorder. Dyslexia is a real public health problem in France, affecting 6% of the general population. However, no clinical trial of a standardized rehabilitation has shown an impact on reading fluency. In the era of intensive rehabilitation, a new protocol based on the current data from the medical literature has been designed.
