Pharmacokinetics Study of Cefazolin in Hemodialysis (CEFAZODIAL)

In chronic hemodialysis patients, bacteremia is most commonly caused by dialysis catheter infections. It is estimated that the vast majority (52-84%) of these infections are due to Gram-positive cocci, particularly Staphylococcus aureus (21-43%). Penicillin M (oxacillin and cloxacillin in France) is the reference beta-lactam for the treatment of invasive methicillin-sensitive S. aureus (MSSA) infections, but has not shown a prognostic benefit in large retrospective cohorts comparing penicillin M and cefazolin, at the expense of more frequent adverse events. Dosage in the chronic hemodialysis population is unclear because it is based on old studies.

RCT Long COVID-19 Rehabilitation

The Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has resulted in at least four million infections in Norway. The vast majority of cases are diagnosed and followed up in the community, but some with extensive symptoms and large degree of reduced function are referred to regional Covid-clinics. In total this patient group is placing an enormous burden on the already over stretched health care services. As the pandemic subsides the emerging threat of long-term disability from COVID remains to be quantified. Brain fog and cognitive symptoms are common in long COVID in 30% of mild infections resulting in sick leave and loss of daily function, with women overrepresented among long COVID sufferers. The true prevalence and underlying mechanisms of long COVID remains to be quantified. Although vaccination prevents severe infection and death, we have little knowledge on how best to rehabilitate those who suffers from long COVID. Here we propose to develop knowledge on treatment interventions to counteract disability from long COVID and lessening the burden on health care services. We will conduct a study of where we compare a short group intervention with systematic personalised neurocognitive rehabilitation to document symptom alleviation. Our overarching goal is to develop effective programmes for this evolving disease to reduce the suffering for the patients, and thereby reducing costs for health services and society at large.

The goal of this type of study is to construct the continuous quality promotion project "ICU-NO CRBSI(Catheter-Related Bloodstream Infection , CRBSI)" based on improvement science, and to verify its effect in the prevention of central venous catheter-related bloodstream infection and continuous quality improvement in ICU ( Intensive Care Unit , ICU) through multi-center implementation and two rounds of improvement. The main question[s] it aims to answer are: What is the incidence of catheter-related bloodstream infection in the ICU of participating units? How compliant are health care providers in the ICU with evidence-based sensory control practices for the prevention of catheter-associated bloodstream infection? Participants will be provided with the hospital's routine CVC (Central Venous Catheter ,CVC) care practices and CVC quality improvement measures based on evidence-based guidelines What technical and cultural support is needed to implement quality and safety improvement measures?

A Study to Learn About the Study Medicine Sisunatovir in Adults With Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Infection

The purpose of this study is to learn about the safety and effects of sisunatovir. Sisunatovir is studied for the possible treatment of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). RSV is a virus that causes lung infections with cold-like symptoms, but it can cause severe illness in some people. Sisunatovir is studied in adults: - who are not admitted to the hospital and - who have high chances of having a severe illness from RSV infection. This study is seeking participants who: - Are confirmed to have RSV. - Have symptoms of a lung infection. - Are 18 years of age or older. - Have one or more of the following which increases the chances of RSV illness: - A long-term lung disease. - heart failure. - a condition that weakens the immune system. - Are 65 years of age or older and do not have any of the conditions above Half of the participants in this study will receive sisunatovir. The other half will receive a placebo for 5 days. Placebo looks same like the study medicine but does not have any medication. Both sisunatovir and placebo will be taken by mouth. The study will compare the experiences of people receiving sisunatovir to those of the people who do not. This will help decide if sisunatovir is safe and effective. Participants will attend about 8-10 study visits over 5 weeks. During this time, they will have: - visits at the study clinic, - blood work, - swabs of the nose, - questionnaires, - a follow-up phone call.

The Efficacy of the 2023-2024 Updated COVID-19 Vaccines Against COVID-19 Infection

The purpose of this research study is to find out how well two different 2023-2024 updated COVID-19 vaccines protect people from COVID-19 (the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus), and to determine if getting a 2023-2024 updated vaccine provides better protection from COVID-19 than not getting a vaccine. If the participant chooses to get a 2023-2024 updated COVID-19 vaccine as part of this study, they will have a 50/50 chance of receiving either the Novavax or Pfizer mRNA vaccine. If the participant decides not to get a 2023-2024 updated COVID-19 vaccine, the participant can still participate in other study activities. STUDY ACTIVITIES: - An online enrollment survey - An in-person enrollment visit - Weekly online surveys for 20 weeks - Weekly COVID-19 tests for 20 weeks - Additional online surveys if you have COVID-19 symptoms or tested positive for COVID-19. - Additional COVID-19 tests if you have COVID-19 symptoms or tested positive. - Online survey questions in the middle and at the end of the study

Assessing the Performance of Shotgun Metagenomics in the Diagnosis of Complex Prosthetic Joint Infections

The objectiveof this of a prospective, multicentre study is to evaluate the performance of shotgun metagenomics in the diagnosis of chronic Prosthetic joint infection (PJI) in comparison with the adapted MSIS diagnostic score.. The main questions it aims to answer are: - To evaluate the performance of shotgun metagenomics in the diagnosis of chronic PJI in comparison with culture. - To describe the epidemiology of bacterial species responsible for chronic PJI in Western France and their potential resistance to antibiotics. - Analyzing the diagnostic performance of shotgun culture and metagenomics as a function of potentially administered antibiotic treatments A total of 143 patients sampled will be included. Six intraoperative samples will be taken for each patient, as part of routine care. In addition to the standard preoperative check-up, an extra volume of blood will be taken for CRP measurement at inclusion.
