NCT ID: NCT00842322 Completed - Clinical trials for Kidney Transplantation

Fluid Intake in Kidney Failure

Start date: n/a
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Patients with renal impairment are usually advised to increase their fluid intake. There is currently, however, no evidence supporting this recommendation. In contrast, high fluid intake could be dangerous if urine excretion is reduced. In this study the researchers investigate whether increasing fluid intake from 2 to 4 litres per day has any influence on long-term renal outcome.

NCT ID: NCT00834691 Completed - Heart Failure Clinical Trials

An Evaluation of the Causes of Anemia in Patients With Heart Failure

ANCHOR
Start date: January 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Anemia is frequent in patients with heart failure. Few studies have clearly addressed the causes of anemia in patients with HF. The purpose of this study is to evaluate differences in blood concentrations of various substances related to inflammation, oxidative stress, renal function and other processes between individuals with 1) heart failure and anemia, 2) heart failure without anemia and 3) patients with kidney disease without systolic heart failure. This study will help to better understand the reasons why some people with heart failure have anemia.

NCT ID: NCT00828776 Completed - Clinical trials for Chronic Renal Failure

Pharmacodynamics and Non-Clinical Inferiority of Heparin Sodium (Cristália) Compared With the Product Liquemine (Roche) in Chronic Renal Failure

heparin
Start date: September 2007
Phase: Phase 2/Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective of the study was to assess the safety in use of the drug Heparin Sodium, produced by Cristália Laboratory, compared drug Liquemine ®, manufactured by Roche Laboratory, and secondary purpose was to evaluate the non-inferiority clinical testing of the product on the product comparator and pharmacodynamic effect, as evidenced by analyzing the parameters and TTPA Anti-Xa in patients with chronic renal failure in treatment of hemodialysis.

NCT ID: NCT00792857 Completed - Clinical trials for Chronic Kidney Disease

Comparison of I.V. CTAP201 and Doxercalciferol (Hectorol) in Subjects With Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and Secondary Hyperparathyroidism (SHPT)

Start date: November 2008
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

This study will compare CTAP201 with Doxercalciferol in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT), undergoing regular hemodialysis, at different dose strengths. This study will also investigate the levels of CTAP201 in the body over time and determine the safety of CTAP201.

NCT ID: NCT00766792 Completed - Clinical trials for Chronic Renal Failure

Removal of Uremic Toxins With Nocturnal Dialysis Versus Standard Dialysis

Start date: December 2005
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Dialysis patients, who decide to switch from standard dialysis (3 times 240-270 min/week) to nocturnal dialysis (3 times 480 min/week), will be followed. In parallel a control group with patients staying on standard dialysis will be followed. The study will last 30 weeks. During this period blood samples (pre- and post-dialysis: 10 times; inlet and outlet of dialyzer: 3 times) will be collected on predetermined time points. Concentration of several uremic retention solutes will be determined.

NCT ID: NCT00744445 Completed - Anemia Clinical Trials

Erythropoietin Therapy in Patients With Chronic Renal Failure: A Study of Time Dependent Activity

Start date: October 1993
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this research study was to determine if the activity of erythropoietin (r-HuEPO) is time dependent when given to chronic renal failure patients at three different times of day.

NCT ID: NCT00742716 Completed - Clinical trials for Chronic Kidney Disease

Safety Study of CTA018 Injection to Treat Stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease

Start date: October 2008
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This study will investigate the levels of CTA018 in the body over time (pharmacokinetics, PK) in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT), undergoing regular hemodialysis. This study will also investigate the safety and effects of different strengths of CTA018, on parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels.

NCT ID: NCT00738205 Completed - Clinical trials for Chronic Renal Failure

Evaluation of Convenience and Compliance of the Easypod™ Electronic Self-injector

Start date: June 2007
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

This is an international, multicenter study involving children treated with Saizen®, a growth hormone, who will be trained to use easypod, a new electronic injector and will complete a questionnaire after 12 week of use. Both children naïve to growth hormone and dissatisfied with their current injection device will be recruited.

NCT ID: NCT00735540 Completed - Clinical trials for Chronic Renal Failure

Clinical Diagnosis of Teenagers Admitted to Pediatric Departments

Start date: May 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

This study intends to analyze the clinical characteristics of teenagers admitted to pediatric wards due to organic illness and non organic diagnosis, including patients suffering from chronic diseases and comorbidity.

NCT ID: NCT00695734 Completed - Clinical trials for Chronic Renal Failure

Detection of Latent Tuberculosis in Hemodialysis Patients

Start date: January 2007
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

This study aims to compare the performance of the tuberculin skin test, used for more than 50 years as a diagnostic tool for latent tuberculosis infection, with 2 blood tests which have recently become commercially available (Interferon-gamma release assays) in a population of immunosuppressed individuals with chronic renal failure undergoing long term hemodialysis
