COVID-19, as well as the collateral situations that it entails, has been causing panic, anguish and anxiety that has generated biopsychosocial problems in society affecting not only the physical and social level but also the mental health and well-being. The main objective of this research project is to assess the biopsychosocial status of people with cerebral palsy and related diseases and their caregivers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Changing Panorama in Risk Factors of Cerebral Palsy

The study will be carried of scanning the database of 296 individuals with cerebral palsy followed in the university pediatric rehabilitation clinic. Cerebral palsy risk factors and demographic information will be obtained from the database. The data will be classified according to date of birth, divided into 3 groups: those born before 2000, those born between 2000-2010, and those born after 2010.Changes in cerebral palsy risk factors will be investigated at 10-year intervals.

Can Transcutaneous Electrical Stimulation Garment Improve Gait in Children With Cerebral Palsy?

Living with cerebral palsy is challenging for the child as well as the family charged with their care and support needs. Many families seek effective and sustainable interventions to improve gait of their children with cerebral palsy. The Mollii suit is a non-invasive therapeutic technology using electrical stimulation in the form of whole-body garment with multiple electrodes individually programmed to stimulate selected muscles. This study aims to examine if the Mollii suit improve gait in ambulant children with cerebral palsy and if the Mollii suit is acceptable and tolerable to children with cerebral palsy. We will recruit up to 20 children with cerebral palsy. This study will evaluate change in gait and function following a four-week intervention period using a protocol of wearing the Mollii suit at home for one hour every day for four weeks using instrumented 3-dimensional gait analysis and objective standardised assessment tools.

Role of Rebound Therapy in the Rehabilitation of Children With Spastic Cerebral Palsy

Cerebral palsy (CP) is a group of disorders of movement and posture, causing several body impairments. CP is caused by non-progressive disturbance that occurred in the fetal or immature brain. CP symptoms include several motor disorders such as disturbances in sensation, coordination, cognition, communication and behavior in addition to disturbances in postural stability, balance and coordination. Balance is the ability to maintain the center of body mass over the base of support. CP causes balance impairment which results in decrease in the child's mobility functions and causing activity limitation and participations restrictions. Motor coordination is the registration of two or more things such as body movements , timing or sensory feedback into a harmonious relationship. CP causes disturbances in motor coordination such as difficulties in the routine gross movements as running and jumping, and disturbances in common fine movements like buttoning, clothing or brushing hair Rebound therapy is an exercise therapy which uses mini trampolines, rebounders , Springfree Trampoline and Swiss balls, to provide opportunity to perform recreational movements for individuals with different body structural and functional impairments.

Effects of Treadmill Training and Whole-body Vibration in Children With Cerebral Palsy

Whole-body vibration (WBV) and treadmill training (TT) are commonly-utilized rehabilitation interventions for children with neuromotor disorders. WBV has been shown in the literature to positively affect gait and lower body spasticity in this population. However, the effects of a single session of WBV are generally transient, lasting between ten minutes and two hours. Thus, it may be necessary to combine WBV with another intervention to reinforce improved movement patterns and maximize its potential benefits. Therefore, the aim of this study is to investigate the effects of the addition of a single bout of WBV to a single bout of TT on the lower extremity spasticity and gait parameters of ambulatory children with CP.
