The objective of this study was to evaluate the clinical and patient reported outcomes after bilateral implantation of the AcrySof™ IQ Vivity™ Toric intraocular lens.

NCT ID: NCT06165796 Completed - Cataract Senile Clinical Trials

The Effect of LASIK on the Calibration of IOL Formula Calculation: a Comparative Study

Start date: January 1, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Direct comparison study between previous LASIK or non-LASIK cataract eyes, the performance between non-LASIK and LASIK patients were (i) Ophthalmic examinations: UDVA, CDVA and uncorrected near visual acuity (UNVA) (40cm) and (ii) Refractive prediction error: defined as difference between postoperative sphere and target refraction.

NCT ID: NCT05790993 Completed - Cataract Senile Clinical Trials

Clinical Evaluation of the Bioli IOL Delivery System (BIOLI-D)

Start date: June 20, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Cataract surgery is one of the most frequent surgeries carried out in the world. After cataract extraction an intraocular lens (IOL) is implanted in order to compensate for the crystalline lens power and correct patient's vision. In order to allow cataract extraction and IOL insertion, during the surgery a small incision is performed by the surgeon. This incision is performed using surgical knives, and a smaller incisión is associated with less postoperatory inflammation, faster corneal wound healing, and faster visual recovery. Several studies reported the importance of smaller incisions to reduce the risk of surgically induced astigmatism. In order to implant the IOL through this small incision, the IOL must be preloaded in a injector that allows introducing the IOL eficiently and consistently. The manual injector BIOLI manufactured by AST Products (model D), CE approved, is designed specifically to allow the IOL insertion safely, precisely, and controllably. Among the main characteristics of this delivery system is its design to minimize the incision size widening while inserting the IOL. The present retrospective study aims to provide more information with regards to the clinical efficacy of the BIOLI-D delivery system for the implantation of the trifocal Asqelio TFLIO130C IOL in patients submitted to cataract surgery. This will be assessed by analyzing the change in incision size after IOL implantation and the incidence of adverse events during and after the procedure.

NCT ID: NCT05578339 Completed - Cataract Senile Clinical Trials

Predicting the Lens Capsular Bag Size Using Pre-operative Biometry

Start date: May 1, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Aim of this study is to assess whether a high-resolution scan of the crystalline lens before surgery may be helpful in predicting post-operative capsule bag diameter.

NCT ID: NCT05347615 Completed - Cataract Senile Clinical Trials

Achieving Hybrid Monovision By Paring Monofocal And EDOF Lens Technology

Start date: October 10, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Modern day cataract surgery isn't just a rehabilitative procedure anymore but rather aims at improving a patient's quality of life by reducing the need for spectacles in everyday life to a minimum. One way of achieving this goal is by using different lens technologies, such as a monofocal lens paired a lens with EDOF technology, as EDOF lenses provide an enhanced depth of focus by creating a single elongated focal point. As this "mix-and-match" is well established, the aim of this study is to compare the monofocal lens cohort to the EDOF lens cohort and evaluate visual acuity and patient satisfaction.

NCT ID: NCT05287269 Completed - Clinical trials for Age Related Macular Degeneration

Ocular Coherence Tomography During Cataract Assessment

Start date: November 2, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

Many patients will have underlying maculopathy present when undergoing cataract surgery, which are not visible on fundoscopy alone. Knowledge of this underlying pathology will allow an improved consenting process and discussion with the patient regarding the risks, visual prognosis and recovery following cataract surgery. Incidental findings in the fellow eye would also allow for improved diagnosis and management of these patients without adding significant additional time to specialist high volume cataract assessment clinics.

NCT ID: NCT05220007 Completed - Glaucoma Clinical Trials

Effect of Presbyopic Correction Lens on Humphrey Visual Field Testing in Patients With Multifocal Intraocular Lens

Start date: June 1, 2009
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of presbyopic correction lens on Humphrey visual field (HVF) testing in patients with 2 models of multifocal intraocular lens (MIOL) both with and without glaucoma. All participants performed HVF testing with presbyopic collection lenses and without presbyopic collection lenses on the same occasion (5-10 minutes between the test). The mean deviation (MD) and pattern standard deviation (PSD) were compared between with and without presbyopic collection lenses, between glaucoma and non-glaucoma and between 2 models of MIOL.

NCT ID: NCT05129566 Completed - Cataract Senile Clinical Trials

Evaluation of Axial Stability of Two Models of Intraocular Lenses in Patients With an Eye Length More Than 26 mm

Start date: October 1, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Some parameters, such as a change in the optic tilt and axial decentration, can affect the optical characteristics of intraocular lenses (IOLs) in postoperative period, which leads to residual refractive errors and other complications. The stability of the intraocular lens in the eye is largely dependent on the mechanical design of its haptic support elements. Thus, the new Clareon IOL has a flat haptic with a flexible design that minimizes axial changes and allows the IOL to maintain a stable position in a given plane during compression. Currently there is no published data of the stability for Clareon AutonoMe IOL for long eyes. The purpose of the current study is to evaluate and compare the axis displacement and stability of optical tilt, visual and refractive results in patients after implantation of two different models of intraocular lenses: Clareon AutonoMe (Alcon, USA) and Hoya iSert 251 (Japan) in the long-term postoperative period (after cataract surgery).
