The investigators hypothesise that a successfully implemented intervention will reduce caregivers burden and be cost-effective.
This pilot trial studies the usability and usefulness of a computer-based system for reporting symptoms in patients with cancer undergoing treatment. Cancer patients undergoing cancer treatment are not always comfortable contacting the doctor when experiencing symptoms. A computer based platform, where patients can input symptoms, may seem less intrusive than a phone call and may improve patient access to care.
This trial studies comprehensive geriatric and quality of life assessments in older patients with head and neck or lung cancer that has or has not spread to other parts of the body who are undergoing standard surgery or chemoradiation, and their caregivers. This trial studies how well a financial navigation program intervention works in supporting patients with solid tumors and their caregivers. The financial navigation program intervention is an educational course about cancer treatment cost. This educational course may provide cancer patients and their caregivers with helpful information about dealing with cancer treatment cost.
The "Time for Living & Caring" (TLC) intervention is an online, self-administered intervention, with the purpose of providing informal family caregivers with resources, support, and education to maximize the benefit of their respite time-use (respite is defined as planned time away from caregiving; it can be provided by a formal service provider or informal arrangements within families/networks). The study will use a full-powered pilot sample (anticipated n=150; actual n=166) and a randomized waitlist control design to examine feasibility and initial efficacy of the TLC intervention.
This randomized phase III trial studies how well a multimedia self-management intervention works in preparing family caregivers and patients with stage I-III lung cancer for lung cancer surgery. The multimedia self-management intervention, Preparing for your Lung Cancer Surgery, is a nurse-led, caregiver-based, multimedia intervention that may improve patient recovery after surgery, lower caregiving burden, and improve distress and quality of life.
This trial studies how well music works in reducing distress in participants with cancer during chemotherapy treatment. Music in participants receiving cancer treatment such as infusion treatment and caregiver may reduce pain, anxiety, and distress and improve participant's psychological and physiological wellbeing.

This trial studies the preference of room setting and waiting time in patients with cancer that has spread to nearby tissue or lymph nodes or other places in the body and their caregivers who are seen in the outpatient supportive/palliative care center. Room setting preferences of patients and caregivers may help to understand their opinion regarding direct rooming system in the outpatient supportive/palliative care center.
