5-Fluorouracil and Calcipotriene for Treatment of Low Grade Skin Cancer

The investigators will compare the application of two different creams for the treatment of low-risk skin cancers-superficial basal cell carcinoma (sBCC) and squamous cell carcinoma in situ (SCCis). 5-Fluorouracil cream is currently FDA approved for the treatment of superficial basal cell carcinoma and is routinely used by dermatologists across the country and at Boston Medical Center (BMC) for SCCis. The normal treatment regimen is 4 weeks of the 5-fluorouracil cream for both skin cancers. The application of a compounded cream consisting of 1:1 ratio 5-fluorouracil with calcipotriene will be tested. This combination cream has been shown to clear pre-skin cancers called actinic keratoses and prevent future skin cancers from developing. This combination cream for 7-14 days to see if this shorter treatment course provides clearance of the 2 types of skin cancer. This combination cream is successfully used in this manner to treat other subtypes of related skin cancers. This will be a pilot study with The primary endpoint for this pilot randomized single blinded clinical trial will be the response to treatment (yes versus no). The lesions will be assessed clinically for clearance of cancer, as would normally be done and is consistent with how comparable studies have assessed clearance. Participants will be followed closely afterwards for three years with visits at 6 months, which does not vary from standard practice. If the lesions are not clear of cancer or equivocal clinically, the lesions will be re-biopsied and normal standard of care procedure will take place.

Comparing Supplemental Topical Agents for the Treatment of Acute Radiation Dermatitis in Patients With Breast Cancer

This clinical trial compares two supplemental topical agents (Aquaphor and Miaderm) for the treatment of acute radiation dermatitis in patients with breast cancer undergoing radiation therapy. Radiation dermatitis is a radiation-induced skin reaction which can cause itching, swelling, pain, and general discomfort. Aquaphor is a commonly available, inexpensive, petrolatum-based multi-purpose ointment designed to protect and sooth extremely dry skin, chapped lips, cracked hands and feet, minor cuts and burns, and many other skin irritations. Miaderm is a water-based cream and contains ingredients like calendula, hyaluronate, and aloe vera which may help reduce occurrence and severity of radiation dermatitis. Both are commonly recommended and used by breast cancer patients undergoing external beam radiation therapy (EBRT). However, it is not known whether one is better than the other in treating or preventing radiation dermatitis.

Intermittent Fasting for the Improvement of Outcomes in Patients With Stage I-III Breast Cancer Receiving Chemotherapy Before Surgery

This trial studies whether intermittent fasting works to improve outcomes in patients with stage I-III breast cancer receiving chemotherapy before surgery (neoadjuvant) with a body mass index >= 25. Intermittent fasting has been shown to elicit similar metabolic changes as calorie restriction such as reduction in blood glucose levels, improved insulin sensitivity, and reduction of tumor cell growth. Intermittent fasting may improve outcomes in patients with breast cancer.

An explanatory study comparing complementary treatment to breast conservative surgery with radiation therapy DCIS, T1-T2 N0 M0 (AJCC v8) 1 week schedule vs 3.1 weeks standard schedule, in order to determine the equivalence of local tumor control, survival, acute and chronic toxicity. Shorter curse of radiation therapy may lead to similar local control of tumor cells and lower rates of toxicity than 3.1 standard treatment.

Immunogenicity of Gardasil-9 HPV Vaccine in People Living With HIV

The primary objective of this study is to determine the magnitude and breadth of the serum antibody response to the nonavalent HPV vaccine (Gardasil-9) in adults with well-controlled HIV infection. The secondary objective of the study is to observe short term clinical outcomes of prevalent HPV genotype-specific anogenital infections in adults living with HIV who complete the three-dose Gardasil-9 vaccine series. The clinical hypothesis is that adults with virologically controlled HIV mount a serum antibody response to the nonavalent HPV vaccine that is comparable to HIV negative counterparts. We also postulate that HPV vaccination will provide short-term clinical benefit against HPV infections and disease associated with vaccine genotypes.

Clinical Evaluation of Detection of High Risk HPV in Urine

Cervical cancer is one of the most common tumors in women, which seriously threatens women's life quality and safety. Human papilloma virus (HPV) infection is the most common cause of cervical cancer. Traditional HPV testing is based on the cells sample shed from the cervix. Recent studies have shown that urine HPV detection can be used as a new HPV detection method. This study intends to include patients undergoing TCT /HPV test/colposcopy in the department of gynecological diseases of the hospital, and collect urine samples and cervical swab samples. Sanger sequencing and cervical swab HPV test results were compared to evaluate the accuracy and clinical validity of urine HPV test combined with clinical diagnosis results of cases.
