Filter by:The goal of this randomized trial is to test the effect of a reminder telephone call in the official native language in the country where the invitee is born, in addition to the reminder letter in Norwegian on participation in the National Colorectal Cancer Screening Program in Pakistani and Somalian immigrants, compared to the reminder letter in Norwegian only. The main question it aims to answer is: •Does a reminder telephone call in the language of origin increase participation in colorectal cancer screening in Pakistani and Somalian immigrants in Norway? Participants in this trial are individuals with Pakistan or Somalia as their country of birth invited to the National Colorectal Cancer Screening Program, who have not participated by mailing a faecal sample to the screening laboratory. In the intervention group, the participants will be called in the official language in their country of origin, to inform about colorectal cancer screening, in addition to the reminder letter in Norwegian language sent to all non-participants. Participants in the comparison group will only be sent the reminder letter in Norwegian language. The researchers will compare differences in the participation rate in the National Colorectal Cancer Screening Program between the intervention and comparison groups.
This clinical trial compares two different prehabilitation programs, with no organized prehabilitation, prior to major colorectal cancer surgery. The prehabilitation programs include intensive and coached physical exercise and optimized nutritional intake coupled with smoking cessation, physiological support and correction of poly-pharmacy.
Complete and timely colonoscopy after an abnormal stool-based colorectal cancer screening test results in early detection, cancer prevention, and reduction in mortality, but follow-up in safety-net health systems occurs in less than 50% at 6 months. The proposal will implement multi-level approach consisting of a stepped-wedge clinic-level intervention of team-based best practices co-developed with primary and specialty care, a patient-level technology intervention to provide enhanced instructions and navigation to complete diagnostic colonoscopy, and a mixed methods evaluation to explore multi-level factors contributing to intervention outcomes. Developing a solution to this high-risk and diverse population has the potential to translate to other health systems, support patient self-management, and address other patient conditions.
Over the past decade, changes in knowledge and attitudes toward complementary and alternative medicine have been occurring. One study shows that 21% of patients are turning to them. In contrast, hypnosis is among the least used. While perceptions of alternative medicine are improving, there is still widespread skepticism about the beliefs of hypnosis and this may explain why patients are not turning to it. Although its use in oncology is no longer in question, and its efficacy in the management of side effects has been demonstrated, no recent qualitative study has been conducted to examine the representations of hypnosis among cancer patients. It therefore seems relevant to us today to know the evolution of the representations and attitudes of cancer patients towards hypnosis.
Multicenter, inter-regional, case-control study with the primary objective of evaluating the discriminative power of the blood biomarker TFPI-1 to separate patients with histologically proven CRC from an asymptomatic control population between 50 and 75 years of age with normal colonoscopy.
