A Pilot Study to Evaluate the BodyLogic TM System (Mentor) in Augmentation Mammaplasty

Start date: May 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

At a national level of 15%, the reoperation rate following augmentation mammaplasty is too high. We are conducting a survey to examine the pre-operative methods by which plastic surgeons determine implant volume, size, shape and location; and to determine if the Mentor "BodyLogic"TM System can successfully improve outcomes. We will evaluate how measurements taken using "BodyLogic"TM influence choice of implant and whether there are any re-operations, particularly for size change. We hypothesize that using this system will help surgeons choose appropriate implants that will decrease the rate of reoperations, especially for size change.

NCT ID: NCT00663156 Completed - Breast Augmentation Clinical Trials

A Prospective Study of Autologous Fat Grafting for Breast Augmentation

Start date: March 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This research study is to evaluate the natural history of fat transplanted from a person's body to their breasts. We are seeking a natural, safe, and effective alternative to breast implants. Patients will undergo liposuction of their body followed by infiltration of this harvested fat around their breasts. The study protocol will involve preoperative and postoperative photographs, mammograms, and MRI to look for changes in the breast shape and size, as well as any internal changes in the breast tissue.

NCT ID: NCT00605670 Completed - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

Measuring Patient Satisfaction and Quality of Life Following Body Image Altering Surgery

Start date: June 2005
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The goal of this study is to develop a questionnaire to measure patient satisfaction with their breast surgery. This questionnaire will help surgeons better understand how patients feel about their surgical results. We hope that such a questionnaire will improve the understanding of breast surgery results and patient care.
