Filter by:Treatment of renal osteodystrophy is impeded by the lack of practical and accurate tools to determine underlying bone turnover. Gold standard bone biopsy is not practical in the clinic for the vast majority of kidney disease patients and parathyroid hormone and bone alkaline phosphatase have insufficient accuracy for turnover type to safely and confidently guide treatment of renal osteodystrophy. In the present investigation, the investigators will study a microRNA approach as a novel non-invasive biomarker of turnover for renal osteodystrophy.
Effectiveness of therapeutic dose of vitamin C in infants and children with nutritional rickets as an adjuvant therapy with vitamin D and calcium The study is two armed Randomized Control Trial, to validate the role of Vit C supplementation on bone turnover infants and children with nutritional rickets.
Use of proton pump inhibitors (PPI) has increased in recent years. There are concerns that PPIs have possible negative effects on bone metabolism. It has been suggested that PPIs may reduce the absorption of calcium from the small intestine and lead to bone resorption by affecting osteoclastic activity. In this study, it is planned to investigate the effects of lansoprazole, a proton pump inhibitor, on bone turnover markers in pediatric patients with gastroesophageal reflux or gastroesophageal reflux disease.
