Hydrogen-Oxygen Generator With Nebulizer for Adjuvant Treatment of Novel Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

This is a multi-center, randomized, parallel controlled, double-blinded clinical trial to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Hydrogen-Oxygen Generator with Nebulizer for adjuvant treatment of COVID-19 patients. The test group is expected to be superior to the control group in the primary endpoint (percentage of subjects achieving clinical recovery at Day 7 of study treatment). Subjects in the test group will receive treatment by using Hydrogen-Oxygen Generator with Nebulizer (manufactured by Shanghai Asclepius Meditec Co., Ltd., flow rate: 3L/min) combined with conventional basic supportive treatment (symptomatic support treatment determined by the investigator based on the condition of the subjects); and subjects in the control group will receive treatment by using Medical Molecular Sieve Oxygen Generator (manufactured by Shanghai Ouliang Medical Devices Co., Ltd., flow rate: 3L/min, provided by the sponsor) combined with conventional basic supportive treatment (same with that in the test group).

This is a prospective, multicenter, randomized, controlled, superiority clinical trial. It is expected that the test group would have better effectiveness than the control group in the primary evaluation indicator (time to negative viral nucleic acid detection from the start of study treatment). The test group will use the investigational medical device Hydrogen-Oxygen Generator with Nebulizer (Shanghai Asclepius Meditec Co., Ltd.) + basic treatment (the investigator provides corresponding symptomatic support treatment based on the condition of the patients), and the control group will use the hospital routine oxygen supply equipment (wall oxygen or cylinder oxygen) + basic treatment, to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of the investigational medical device Hydrogen-Oxygen Generator with Nebulizer for adjuvant treatment of COVID-19 patients.

Hydrogen-Oxygen Generator With Nebulizer for Rehabilitation Treatment of COVID-19

This is a prospective, multicenter, randomized, controlled, superiority clinical trial, with the test group expected to be superior to the control group in the primary evaluation endpoints (changes in Borg score and PSQI index at 3 months after the start of the treatment). The test group will use the investigational device Hydrogen-Oxygen Generator with Nebulizer (manufactured by Shanghai Asclepius Meditec Co., Ltd.) + basic treatment (supportive treatment determined by the investigator based on the condition of the patients), and the control group will use basic treatment only, to evaluate of effectiveness and safety of the investigational device Hydrogen-Oxygen Generator with Nebulizer for rehabilitation treatment of dysfunctions in discharged patients who are previously hospitalized due to 2019 novel coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19).

Qualified subjects will randomly be assigned to the experimental arm or the control arm according to the ratio of 1:1, with age (> 60 years or ≤ 60 years), smoking status (yes/no) and forced expiratory volume in one second/prediction (FEV1 %pred > 60% or ≤ 60%) as the random stratification factors.
