This study will assess the psychosocial and behavioral impacts of receiving Alzheimer's disease genetic risk assessment incorporating APOE genotypes among Latinos in northern Manhattan. The investigators will conduct a longitudinal, community-based study with a mixed methods design. Participants will be randomized to learn about their lifetime risk of late-onset Alzheimer's disease (AD) based either on (a) Latino ethnicity and family history alone (genotype nondisclosure group), or (b) the same factors plus APOE genotype (genotype disclosure group). Responses will be evaluated at 6 weeks, 9 months, and 15 months after risk assessment. In the quantitative component of the study, the investigators will assess psychosocial outcomes, memory test performance, and health-related behaviors. In the qualitative component of the study, the investigators will investigate the lived experience of receiving personal AD risk information, using a stress and coping theoretical framework.
The primary purpose of this study is to determine whether treatment with lecanemab is superior to placebo on change from baseline of the Preclinical Alzheimer Cognitive Composite 5 (PACC5) at 216 weeks of treatment (A45 Trial) and to determine whether treatment with lecanemab is superior to placebo in reducing brain amyloid accumulation as measured by amyloid positron emission tomography (PET) at 216 weeks of treatment (A3 Trial). This study will also evaluate the long-term safety and tolerability of lecanemab in participants enrolled in the Extension Phase.
The main purpose of the Study is to develop an understanding over time and through multiple research projects, including surveys, interviews, online focus groups, and other primary research methodologies (A-LIST Research Projects) on what matters most to individuals concerned about brain health and those with and/or affected by Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, including caregivers.
This study will be conducted to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of AVP-786 (deudextromethorphan hydrobromide [d6-DM]/quinidine sulfate [Q]) compared to placebo for the treatment of agitation in participants with dementia of the Alzheimer's type.
Today the therapy options for dementia due to Alzheimer's disease (AD) are limited. One recommended intervention is cognitive stimulation. We try to develop serious games as a further treatment option, also usable in pre-dementia as well as early stages of dementia and for a long period of time. The main objective of this study is to test, if the computerized-cognitive training (CCT) is able to improve the performance in a score quantifying an "AD-specific" component score. Additionally, the neurobiological effects of the training are investigated.
In the current study, the investigators will examine the extent of subclinical epileptic activity in patients with Alzheimer's disease and patients with Lewy body dementia as compared to healthy elderly controls. The participants will wear a new device called "ear-EEG", which makes it possible to record EEG for longer periods of time while at home. Furthermore, the investigators want to investigate whether there is an association between subclinical epileptic activity and the cerebral blood flow as measured with functional MRI.
This is a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled, crossover trial that aims to 1) determine the efficacy of THC-free cannabidiol (CBD oil) in reducing the severity of agitation among participants and 2) determine whether THC-free CBD oil can reduce the burden on caregivers and increase the participants' quality of life.
The primary aim of this study is to investigate the effects of exogenously administered nicotinamide riboside (NR) on brain energy metabolism, oxidative stress, and cognitive function in individuals with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and mild Alzheimer's dementia (AD).
New IDEAS is an observational, open-label, longitudinal cohort study designed to address the requirements of the CED provisions of the NCD on beta-amyloid PET. Building on the initial Imaging Dementia-Evidence for Amyloid Scanning (IDEAS) study, New IDEAS will evaluate the association between amyloid PET and patient-centered outcomes in an expanded and more ethnoracially and clinically diverse group of Medicare participants presenting with cognitive impairment.
